Windows 11 Pro
Hi

I did a fresh install of Windows 11 Pro in March and I received the March cumulative update on the 24/3/2024 also received the Windows Malicious software removal tool on the same date.

I ran Windows update for April and I can no longer see the Quality update that was done in March.

Please see the picture I have attached.
Is this normal?

Thanks.
James.

Open powershell as admin and type: get-hotfix ...then post a screenshot of the result.
Here It's showing. Strange.

KB5052915 is an SSU (Servicing Stack Update).
I don't see KB5052915 in my update history either.

The ISO image you used to install Windows 11, probably already included the March 11th update.

This was the March 11th update, and it included the SSU update.
MS doesn't list them anymore in the update history.

If you installed Windows 11 after March 11th, that might be why KB5053598 doesn't show.

I have no cumulative update for March. How is that possible? I installed windows on the 23rd of March?

I should have March 11, 2025 KB5053598 in my history right?

See my additions to the post above. I type slowly. :-)

The short version is... if April's update worked, and winver shows the right build number, you're good to go.

See my additions to the post above. :-)
Yeah I used whatever version was on the media creation tool (install via usb) then did a windows update straight to March cumulative update on the 23rd.

So I really don't understand the stuff in the links. Except there was some issue in March.

Next month will I likely see April and May? I am worried about a issue where updates don't show. That might require me to reset windows.

If you're really worried about it... get WAU Manager. It shows ALL the update history.

For many 24H2 systems, a clean install can invoke a forced Windows Update during the OOBE stage.

If your system was installed after March 12, then OOBE would have applied the March 2025 CU for you. While OOBE used the Windows Update framework to install updates, Windows counts OOBE as the one having performed it. Therefore it's not credited in the Updates history.

Is this true when you do a fresh install while being offline? My system was set up without a internet connection. I only plugged in when Win 11 was fully installed. Then I ran windows update manually.

There's a part after you create an user account where it begins checking for updates. In the Get-Hotfix output, it doesn't list a March CU for Windows. An updated SSU (Servicing Stack Update) is a precursor for the next Monthly Update and you don't see either March or March Preview listed...

I apologise I am not 100% understanding this. I am feeling really dumb right now,

So the March SSU is why I can't see March CU in windows history?

Now that you mention it, I think Get-Hotfix only displays current updates and doesn't work as a history mechanism.

Try this PowerShell script.

So because of my OCD I am still wondering why I have no March updates even though I installed Window 11 Pro in March.

Sorry to be annoying but in May I assume I will have Aprils update history when I install May's updates?

I am so close to formatting this damn computer. I don't understand how its missing the March Cumulative update despite what y'all have said I am so stupid.

I ran this code and KB5053598 was installed on the 24th which was March cumulative update
This is not showing in my windows update history.

I am so close to formatting this PC but I might wait until next month as see what happens.

Don't over react. It really doesn't matter what the update history says.
What matters is that you're on the latest version, and that your computer's working.

If you want to double check things, just open a command prompt as Admin, and run sfc /scannow

If you're expecting Windows 11 to run like a well oiled machine... don't hold your breath. :-)

Thank you. as per my post I showed that last month was installed.

I will wait until next month rolls around and see what's going to happen.

Never had this issue when I was on windows 10 and it was much easier to view installed updates.

I only went to win 11 last month. It is a royal pain in the ass.

I ran sfc /scannow

dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth
dism /online /cleanup-image /checkhealth
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

With no issues.

Thank you. No need to format because that is a HUGE pain in the ass.

Thanks for the help. My OCD is better.
