OS
W10, W11, Mint and Debian
Hi
W11 build 24H2 (26100.3624)

I seem to have a stable install now, after a nightmare 12 hours with it.

I have tried, and failed, to remove Bing and Edge, what a double act they are.

Noticed a script to install Office 2016, which seems peculiar.
This script sets up the client machine with OEM settings for Office 2016. This script is meant to be run on the client machine after installation.
For more information, please read the documentation.

So not wanting to install Tiny 11 (Tiny11 Builder trims Windows 11 fat with PowerShell script)
but wanting to trim my install I hope for some help in doing so, the internet does not help.

Any tips please.

Hi, welcome.

As an option, you could totally ignore Edge and just leave it alone.

Bypass the fact it exists and use Edge Redirect.

If you simply block Edge you’re going to lose some functionality in Windows.

Also, for instance; web search results in Windows Search (Windows key + S - unless of course you have disabled them or don’t use it) are Edge specific links. So if you click on a web result in the search and Edge isn’t installed, Windows is going to tell you that you need a program to open it, because Edge is disabled or gone.

Microsoft Edge Redirect. It prevents Edge from hijacking the default browser and search preferences and other scenarios..

  • Select “Active Mode” (I would recommend)

  • Select your preferred link/browser bypass preferences:

  • Edge specific links will in future, be redirected to your Windows specified default browser.

To uninstall MS Edge you need to copy the old version of the setup.exe file from the previous build of Windows (f.e. Windows 10 21H1 (setup_92-0-902-55.exe)) and use it to delete Edge:

C:\Program` Files` `(x86`)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\133.0.3065.92\Installer\setup_92-0-902-55.exe --uninstall --system-level --verbose-logging --force-uninstall

Then you still need to disable Edge-related services and tasks using Auturuns.

Thanks to all the respondents.

I hope to be able to glean something from Tiny11 script, perhaps even installing it on another machine.

This install is stable, and bloated etc but I will persevere.

Thanks again.

I am still intrigued by the script to install Office 2016, but not at the expense of LibreOffice.

Hopefully more later.
