It's not so much... more steps.
Rather, it seems to be designed for tablets and phones.
"Stacked pages" for everything, cause the screens are so small.

Did MS learn nothing from Windows 8. As I recall, most Windows user don't want a one OS fits all devices type of OS.

Too each their own. I do use Settings at times but I'll always prefer to use Control Panel until the day it falls into just being a memory.

I don't think they will remove Control Panel completely, just hide it. You think Internet Explorer 11 is removed? Just hidden, there are workarounds to load it, just for fun, in Windows 11.

I use both the Windows 11 and classic versions of both Notepad and Paint. I configured in settings which version is the default. In other words which version of Notepad automatically loads ".txt" files and which version of Paint loads ".jpg" files. I also have shortcuts to each one on the taskbar so I can manually choose which one to use.

The Windows 11 and Classic versions are located in different locations so there is no conflict.
