Thanks to some fine, albeit strange, advice here, I have restored three icons missing from my task bar, which makes matters better. However, there is one more for which so far, none of the on-line advice has helped.

Using Windows 11 and Firefox Browser, I can find Bookmarks Menu, with the fifteen folders and many entries, but I cannot find the icon that supposedly will open this file (or whatever it is.) The advice all says to use the Star icon, which I would expect to find in the icon collection used to modify various matters. I would use that icon, were I able to locate it; if anyone knows where I might find it, please let me know where that is.

You can press Ctrl-B to bring up the Bookmarks Menu in a sidebar.

Or, you can right-click somewhere on the toolbar, somewhere other than the address box, and choose Customize Toolbar. Find the Bookmarks menu icon, and drag it to the toolbar.

Seriously, thanks. Yes, Ctrl-B works, but I would prefer an icon, and I am not sure that I understand your directions. Which toolbar are you referring to? If you mean the one that has my other icons, that does not bring up any thing about customizing.

Simply knowing that I shall eventually have this solved, finishing my travails that were caused by a spammer who evaded all of my anti-spam programs. My new router has built-in protection which, from the description of that, looks to be rather serious.

I don't know what toolbar has your other icons. I mean the toolbar in the animated GIF in my post.

I don't know what toolbar has your other icons. I mean the toolbar in the animated GIF in my post.
It is the Bookmarks Toolbar, accessed by a right click on the 3-dot upper right corner icon; it can be always show, only when a new tab is opened, or never shown.

In days of yore, the icon to open the Bookmarks Menu, whose name I had long forgotten, was opened by a very weird icon, nothing more than a grey, thin, vertical mark on the Bookmarks Toolbar. Where that arose, I have no idea whatsoever; it was just there and worked. I don't know what you are using, it does not resemble anything I recall having seen.

Well I posted an animated GIF of a plain, unmodified Firefox to demo my instructions. Without a picture from you, I have no idea what you see.

I have never heard of that icon, not even during my searches for what I believe is the correct "Star" icon. So, no, I man not thinking of that one. That's not to be misinterpreted as my not appreciate your trying to help me.

It would be dishonest for me to state that I found the supposedly-missing icon, for it has been in plain site for some time, but I have ignored it. I have no idea how it got placed at the far left edge of the tab bar, but there it is, and there it works.

I had noticed it more than once, but only casually, and that it is clearly the icon I have been looking for in the places that a number of sites and people have told me it would be found, especially the large set of icons found More tools/Customize toolbars. For an unknowable reason, I actually looked at it today, clicked on it, and enjoyed seeing my lamented missing sites reappear.

I have moved the icon to the right side of the search bar where I want it.
