Need help getting win11 to look like win10

In the File Explorer category of ExplorerPatcher settings, you can set Control Interface: to Windows 10 Ribbon. Next, you'll notice a few other customization options become available in this same category. Additionally, Open-Shell has a Classic Explorer component which is separate from Open-Shell Menu. When you install Open-Shell, you'll notice that letting it install this Classic Explorer component is optional. If it is installed, Classic Explorer Settings can be opened by running "%ProgramFiles%\Open-Shell\ClassicExplorerSettings.exe". Additionally also, Windhawk can be used.

Disable grouping on the taskbar (taskbar-grouping)
Disable rounded corners in Windows 11 (disable-rounded-corners)
Middle click to close on the taskbar (taskbar-button-click)
You can remove 7+ Taskbar Tweaker, as it is not needed on Windows 11.

It's funny how some people want to make OS look like older versions e.g. W7 users want it to look like XP, W10 users like W7, now W11 like W10.

In the end, one thing that is a common theme on this forum is the more one tries to change the look, the more things fall over at the next update.

I use Explorer Patcher to make File Explorer look like Windows 10 and also to separate the power-sound-network icons which are grouped by default. The reason is I want to replace the default system icons with custom (mostly those from Windows 8.1) but any changes to these grouped icons is ignored, unless you separate them (un-group). I also use Open Shell to make the start button and start menu look like Windows 7 (more convenient than modern versions. Yes, I can adapt, but I don't want to). A nice side-effect of Open Shell are the cut-copy-paste (and more) buttons in File Explorer. Very convenient, I don't have to use the keyboard or right-click when I need one of those functions. Just click the respective icon. With the default Windows 11 File Explorer these icons appear top left, while switching to the Windows 10 File Explorer they appear top right, like in Windows 7/8/10. Again, yes, I can adapt, but why should I? Every major cumulative update or upgrade to newer Windows 11 version breaks these customizations, but I don't mind applying them again so my system looks nicer and more familiar. I have even replaced the wrong "Windows 10" text in Windows Version window with a custom "Windows 11" text featuring the good old blue orb (Windows 7 start button). Much better. PS: To debloat the context menu (aka right-click list) in File Explorer, use Revo Uninstaller, as mentioned in another post. Image resize and power rename are Windows PowerToys. Just uninstall them or disable the ones you don't need.

Change is not desired! Let's all boycott Windows 11 and keep using XP forever!
No wait! You can customize the interface to make it look like your familiar XP! Hurray! You can even install Plus! for Windows XP and Plus! DME to get back all your wallpapers, screensavers and games! Yeah!!!


DON'T laugh! I have done it, so I can use the Mercury Pool wallpaper and play the bowling game in Windows 11. Just right-click Setup and Run as Admin.

Crazy tip: You can even install Plus! for Windows 98, just rename the Setup file to bypass compatibility check!
