Need help with "Your OneDrive account is about to be deleted"

Hello all,

I have spent the most part of today trying to get some help with an email I received this morning coming from OneDrive[at]infomail.microsoft.com claiming that my OneDrive account will be deleted. All the searches I made and the pages I read ended me more confused than ever.

I initially thought it was phishing but after logging into my MS account I noticed that I couldn't get to the OneDrive section.

Now,
I only use that account for my Outlook emails. I have never touched OneDrive. I read somewhere that Outlook needs OneDrive to work(?).

I've been using that email address for years and contains very important emails since it uses my real name as a handle (ie. realname@outlook.com).

Does anyone know:

a. is the original email from microsoft legit? (infomail.microsoft.com)
b. do I really need to 'unfreeze' my onedrive to avoid losing it?
c. does onedrive really need to be active for my email address to be active as well?
d. how can I contact MS about that? There doesn't seem *any* way I can contact them. All I need is my email usage; I don't care about anything else.

Thank you all in advance.

Scam! Delete it!
Well, that's the problem: there are contradictory suggestions on the net about that. Some say it is Legit and others -like yourself- claim that it is a scam. That's why I'm so confused.

Please also note that OneDrive really is frozen in my account (I can't get to it unless I *unfreeze* it).

MS will not delete your Onedrive account, since it is linked to your Microsoft account, period.
It's another scam trying to get you, one way or another. If it's frozen as you say, your account might already have been breached

Every message I see on my account supports the email I got.
Here is what I see when I log in:

@z3r010,

thanks for that but I have already read it. The answers I find don't really explain in detail what is happening. If a single sign-in was all it was needed then I wouldn't get the message in the screenshot.
If I click to unfreeze my account then I get the following which is even more confusing since it claims: a. that I need more storage (I use ~2% only) and b. if I don't buy more storage, I will get my account frozen again!

Edit: just a reminder that I've been using the email address of that account for years now. No idea where that 'while you were away' comes from.

K, I'm not going to pretend to know what's going on, but that seems sketchy as heck!
Careful what you click on!

(I'll stay out of it from here...)

I surely am careful and that's why it's so aggravating. eg. I haven't clicked anything on the links in the email and, instead, I visited microsoft's website.

Everything I see on the website comes from microsoft (I'm careful to monitor all the URLs I see on my browser) and I'm starting to believe that this -seemingly phishy- email is from MS as well.

There are a lot of people on the net as well confused like myself about this :/

@Dannydet,
maybe I'm missing something but I don't see how the first post helps my situation.

Regarding the second link, I have already read that but it still doesn't help. I don't need to learn how to unfreeze my onedrive account; I mean, as I posted earlier, there are clear directions how to do that on-site. Also, it doesn't clearly state what happens when an email is fully active but the attached onedrive is not.

It's the whole situation that is confusing, starting from whether the initial email being legit to what am I supposed to do to keep my email alive. As I said, I don't care about onedrive; it's my email that it's important to me.

One of my OP questions were, how can I contact Microsoft. Does anyone know how I can do that? I'm about to start forwarding all my emails from my MS account to a G account to save some very important emails I have.

This is one messy situation.

K, if this whole thing is legit, I strongly disapprove of these kind of forceful tactics on MS's part.

(K, I'll stay out of it now, promise!)

It's on the link I posted along with verification that the email domain is legitimate.

check how much space you have left in onedrive. the notice maybe because you have run out of storage space.
best of luck, Steve ..

I read somewhere that Outlook needs OneDrive to work(?).
Yes, outlook will not receive any emails, if OneDrive is blocked, even if it has like 1KB file in 5GB free space, OneDrive = Outlook.

Buy MS365 Basic for 1 month, it cost $2, but you will get a premium (chat) support for 30 days. It is great.

Just fyi,
that link, with the 'contact support', does nothing for me. It will lead me to a questionnaire that in turn will lead to irrelevant answers. I did all that before registering to this forum.

What I'm asking is to contact someone and ask them what am I supposed to do to keep my email alive? That's all that matters to me.

Regarding the other postings:

-I have already mentioned that I'm using only 2% of the space, there is no reason to assume that I have ran out of space. For sure, I nave no reason to buy space to use a supposedly *free* email.

-I'm not sure what 'settings' I'm supposed to look at? Again, I got an email stating that, due to not using onedrive, it will be deleted. There are no settings to look, it's just my outlook email that I use via the browser.

There are a lot of things that just don't make sense in this whole thing starting from the spam-like email I received to everything being hugely unclear on-site.

This is what I see when I log in my onedrive account:

If you're referring to my post I mean clicking on Start > Settings > Accounts > Your info > Accounts. This way you should be actually accessing your MS account and not being redirected. If your sure you're on the MS site and haven't done it yet, try typing I understand in the box and see what happens.
