New HP Desktop w/ Windows 11 Pro, Displayports not working

Sorry if this has already been suggested, no time to read all the posts.
This is a symptom of missing drivers. Yes, Windows Update might have installed some graphics drivers, but I strongly recommend to download latest graphics drivers directly from Intel: Intel® Arc™ & Iris® Xe Graphics - Windows*

Well, I plugged in my new machine and guess what? DP ports do not work.... , only the HDMI. I immediately contacted HP support and after removing and installing an 'updated' driver, it still doesn't work and the tech said I need to buy an 'adapter'. I find it very hard to believe that this video card needs an 'adapter' to work with a DVI monitor (NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060). The card has one HDMI and 3 DP ports. As before, I've tested the DP to DVI cable on another computer and it works.
When I had this problem on the previous machine, the HP tech tried installing new firmware and a couple of other things, iirc. I was disappointed this time as all they did was load the new driver. It there any fundamental reason this card's DP ports will not work with a DVI monitor? If not, what kind of monitor works with DP ports?
Why not just stick with the HDMI? I eventually want to run dual monitors and sure as H don't want to have to buy a spitter to do it. Argg!

@Mike C555 I know this sounds crazy but even though the cable you have works on another monitor, I would still try another cable. (unless you've already tried a second cable)
Stay away from adapters. Buy a good quality DP to DVI cable.

I just checked and see that you can buy that computer from Best Buy if you order it online. You can have it shipped to you or you can pick it up at Best Buy.

I have another DP to DVI cable on order as a sanity check. In the meantime I contacted Nvidia and after explaining the situation to their tech support, they asked if I knew the DP version the card was using (I had no idea) becuase they weren't able to find out from the card spec sheet. Surpringly, they agreed with HP tech support in that I may need an adapter to use the DP port. They sent me this link, which suggests that DP can be version 1.1, 1.2 or 1.3. I would guess the video card is using the latest version. NVIDIA Support
A little research shows DVI can be A, D or I version. I'm checking to see if my monitor specs out which version of DVI. Is it plausible that some version of DP isn't compatible with some version of DVI? Would a DP to DVI passive adapter do the job?

DVI-D and DVI-I are the two you’re likely to see. You can tell the difference by looking at the connections:

DVI-I - Both digital and analog
DVI-D - Digital only
DVI-A - Analog only (I have never seen this one)

Some computers used to have a DVD-I connector. With DVD-I you could use a DVI-D to DVI-D cable to connect to a monitor with a DVI-D connector. With DVI-I you could also use a DVI to VGA adapter so you could use a VGA to VGA cable so you could connect to an old monitor with a VGA connector.

Computers with a DVI-D connector could use a a DVI-D to DVI-D cable to connect to a monitor with a DVI-D connector. You could also use an adapter to connect to another type of connection. For example, a DVI to HDMI adapter.

Note none of the DVI connectors have audio so you have to connect that separately.

I have updated Windows 11 with all available updates, checked for latest graphics driver for the UHD graphics (it has the recommended driver). No joy. I came across a thread where someone was able to run one monitor HDMI and the other Displayport and then DP would work. I tried that here, no dice (I did also go into 'display' and manually tried to detect 2nd monitor and machine does not see it).

It seems like the kind of thing that is not a hardware issue. Any ideas what to try?

What does the above mean "it has dual Displayports" Do you mean the HP you bought has dual DP ports plus an HDMI port?

Something else to consider....the DP port should work while in the Bios/UEFI gui. You do not need an OS driver to check this out. In other words hit the proper key to take it to the bios and see if the ports are working. There also may be a setting in the bios to enable/disable certain ports. Not sure what the Tech Support call had you check.
