NEW issue..... Laptop is no longer capitalizing first letter of a new sentence.

Your specs are incomplete but your cpu indicates you are running 11 on incompatible hardware. To better assist you we need to know what build of 11 you are running and what app you are using that works incorrectly. Did your issue begin to occur after an update/upgrade?

I believe auto caps is only possible on a touch keyboard and not a USB or wireless one.

1. Open Settings, and click/tap on Devices.

2. Click/tap on Typing on the left side, and turn On (default) or Off Capitalize the first letter of each sentence under Touch keyboard on the right side for what you want. (see screenshot below)

3. You can now close Settings and try to check if it will work.

Thank you ShamrockRig. You are probably right that it is not possible to have Capitalization automatically.
However, I can tell you this new Lenovo Laptop did have it till days ago. I was stunned when I noticed it was GONE !
Non of my other computers have it except my tablet.
It doesn't make sense to me, wouldn't it be a huge benefit if all computers had this feature.
I sure miss it. Was it a fluke or what ?
I came across a few others who have the choice to activate it IF THEY are using American English only. It doesn't give you the option under Canadian or UK English. Figure that one out !!

Some programs such as Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, Lotus AmiPro have it but usually adjustable. Don't see it on forums when typing a post or a reply or in URLs, file names, etc.

Hi Berton. I was stunned when this 7 month Lenovo laptop had it . Then it just suddenly stopped. I thought the computer world had come to its senses to make typing much easier and faster. I guess I was wrong, it must have been a fluke or something weird. How else do you explain it? Why do Android devices have this feature?
I was just on Twitter and there it was, AUTOMATIC capitalization on every new sentence.
Why should this be so ?

That also befuddles me, haven't seen that. I was given an older Lenovo Notebook a few weeks ago to recycle [owner had died] and haven't found a way to duplicate the issue.

I have the feature everywhere in my browser because I've added the "Microsoft Editor" extension. I use Microsoft 365 and it's everywhere in all my Microsoft Office apps. I use Microsoft Outlook for my email and, of course, it's there too.

That's a good tip, I don't use those. So far none of my clients use them, yet.

I come from a corporate environment and Microsoft Office is the corporate standard. I've never used anything other than Microsoft Office.

I have a few versions installed on some computers, Office 2000 on WIn10, Office 2010, Office 2013 and Office 2016 on some and Office 2007 on an April Win11 Pro, no issues but I don't use Outlook and opted to not install that [but do use Outlook.com Webmail]. I 'grew up' with my first computer in '92 running Win3.1 on top of MS-DOS 5 and WordPerfect for Windows 5.1, always keep it on my computers, have several versions with oldest being WordPerfect 12.

Microsoft 365 subscription is always up to date and is backward compatible. There are problems with forward compatibility with outdated Office products.

I go way back too! My first computer was the original IBM PC in 1981. I bought it with the first version of Microsoft DOS, Microsoft BASIC, and Microsoft Assembler. I immersed myself during all waking hours. And here I am today, I'm never bored.

Yep, always something new to learn. After I retired in '94 I was offered a part-time job in a computer store stocking and cleaning and a month later was building computers for sale. She really got a good deal with me, didn't need to provide benefits and didn't need Job Service cost to find someone and got me over the hump of What do I do now, been fixing and training ever since.

Back to the original thread topic. Sentence capitalization is not a feature of a device, it's a feature of an app. If the feature is available in an app, you can usually find it by going to app Settings.

Gary and Berton thank you. I guess we learn new things every day. It never crossed my mind about looking into an apt. But, how this situation happened to me just woke me up and had me assuming that they are taking the Android route. I guess not.
Yet, Android has this feature everywhere. My tablet capitalizes every new sentence. why should that be so?

Can't provide an answer, haven't used my Android Azpen Tablet in a few years. Most word processors will automatically start a new line instead of overflowing without having to press Enter, would wonder if the same type program on Android does the same. Might be a setting about each new line is a new sentence.

OK, I am not familiar with what you are doing. I did have problems with voice typing not capitalizing the first word in a sentence.

If the problem is solved for you, marking this thread solved would be in order.
