Solved New update wch.cn - Ports - 3.8.2023.2

This morning I have an unexpected Windows Update requiring a restart. It is labelled "wch.cn - Ports - 3.8.2023.2". I don't see it in the Updates Catalog. Does anyone know what effect this will have?

Appears to be from Nanjing Qinheng Microelectronics Co., Ltd. founded in 2004, WCH division
is an IC communication interface and full-stack MCU design company。

Qinheng specializes in connectivity technology and MCU core development.It's more than likely related to your usb ports.

Thanks, Glasskuter. It looks like it has self-installed and requires the restart for completion. I suppose it will be unlikely that I'll find an exact description of what it does.

Sure you can if you want to spend the time looking at properties of your devices in device manager. Once properties open click on driver tab.
I'd look at USB devices first. Then system devices.
or use Driver Store Explorer

Thanks again. Driver Store Explorer tells me it's USB Com3, so I'm happy with that.
