New Version of ExplorerPatcher

OK, I've decided to back off this Win11 beta, so I'm back to normal with EP + 7+TT. The final straw with this beta is I've been experiencing occasional freeze-like moments, and those are a little too jarring for my productivity. Hopefully the next beta won't be as brittle.

The problem here being, and I think @valinet is already alluding to this, that the beta will at some point become an RC and then GA. And everything will still be broken... So you really only bought yourself a couple of months.

22H2 will probably GA in the fall, unless I'm missing something. By then, many things *could* be fixed.

Would you all bother mentioning where the problem happens? Stable, dev, beta and exact OS build? You may wait, I understand and thanks for that, but it would still be nice where the problem is exactly happening so I can eventually look on it and fix it.

Afaik, it happens on dev builds. And yeah, eventually it will get fixed there. But is it happening on stable builds as well, or not?
I'm running 22000.588 instead of the non preview 22000.566 which is the latest non-preview build. :( Also, I have the Quick Launch Bar active; I'm going to deactivate that and see what happens. If I still can't right click the Start Menu, I'll go to 22000.556.

That said, when I make the Windows 11 Taskbar the default, I can right click to my heart's content.

I am now running Windows 11 Build 22000.556 with EP set for Windows 10. Right click on the Start Menu is now working for me.

So, I would assume that something has happened between Build 22000.556 and 22000.588 to cause right click to stop working.

I have Version 22000.556.43.2 of EP installed.

What do you guys mean about right clicking the Start Menu?

WinX menu is what I meant. And it doesn't launch by right-click of the Start button in 21H2 20000.588 or the 22H2 beta release.

The little "Window" button. When EP is activated in the DEV releases or 22000.588, right clicking on it doesn't work. But in the "RTM" version, with EP activated right click works fine.

I realize this doesn't happen to everyone, and probably only a select few of us. :( Which makes it harder to troubleshoot.

Since I'll need the general release version for my class, I had no problem with going to 22000.556. And voila! Right clicking the Start Button works!

With EP enabled. And strangely, with EP enabled and using Windows 11 as the default, right clicking the Start Menu Button works just fine with DEV, RP and Beta.

I guess I should correct myself . . . I've been saying Start Menu which isn't quite correct.

Clicking on the Start Button opens the Start Menu. Right clicking on the Start Button opens what I can only think of as the Right Click Menu.

Hmmmm, maybe the Options Menu?

Anyone know the correct name?

WinX Menu

btw..., does the WinKey+X key combo work?
It does, but not the way I would expect it to. It gives the same options as if I had right clicked the Start Button.

So, I thought I'd do WinKey+S (start), but nope! A strange menu I've never seen before! Check it out, and remember I'm running EP and on 22000.556.

And I'm getting off topic, so I'll shut up.

@Wynona Man, I hardly understand anything from your replies, honestly. What menu do you expect? Right clicking the Start button or pressing Win-X opens the power user menu (or Win-X menu). It’s been like that since Windows 8. I don’t understand what else you expect, maybe update yourself on how Windows worked for the past 10 years.

Where it doesn’t work, it has to be investigated, either a problem regarding symbols, either they changed something else.

And the menu when using the Windows 11 taskbar has nothing to do with ExplorerPatcher, that’s provided by Windows itself and ofc works 100% of the times.

@chip222 I know they all vary, but what is the chance of snow on Thursday? I am in the UK down in Wiltshire. It just looks good on the taskbar I generally use BBC weather even that seems better than the Met Office, same as BBC weather is more accurate than ITV but the source is the same
