Looking for help i can access bios but cannot get input devices to work. Any suggestions

I find it hard to believe that board doesn't support keyboard/mouse functionality inside the BIOS.

What wireless mouse / keyboard combo do you have? And are you connected via BT (Bluetooth)?

Anyway, you can try / buy one of these USB to PS2 adapters.

Also, in the BIOS under "USB Configuration" try toggling "Legacy USB" to Enable or Auto as shown on page 32 of the owner's manual (PDF File)

sorry post before finished, thank you for the suggestion usb to ps2 adapter mother board does not have ps2 ports, it worked before bios update i wil try legacy setting
board is asus rog strix b550 e, cpu r7 5800x3d bios updated to 2806 would csm help?

This keyboard ?
Should be nothing to change in BIOS for keyboard and mouse use, just use default settings or optimized for now.
Not sure if BIOS update cause it, able to go back old BIOS.
What made you update BIOS ? Whatever way you updated BIOS should be able to flash older one back.

i updated bios because of new cpu r7 5800 x3d, i wil try usb 2 ports when i get home tonight at work right now updated thru ai suite because of the bios access problem

Honestly this issue should be that hard. Simply toggle the USB setting in the BIOS as stated. What's that take like 30 seconds from getting into the BIOS to logging back into Windows again? :rolleyes:

I'm a little hazy as to the characteristics of your keyboard and mouse. I'm not good at texting.

If they're wired, you should be able to get into the BIOS settings with them.

You might want to have legacy USB set to enabled, or at least auto. No idea why that setting would have changed.

Finally got it to work turret keyboard basilik mouse using usb 2. Thanks for your help

Wouldn't jump to do a clean install just yet. Basically saying exactly when you updated your BIOS both keyboard and mouse did not work, same keyboard and mouse been using all along ? How did access BIOS without them working ?

Usually press delete on keyboard to enter BIOS. ASUS motherboard like mine.
Although if a keyboard not detected will go to American Megatrends screen on boot to let you know no keyboard is detected

sorry i am at work, razer turret for xbox, wireless but used plugged in razer balislik gaming mouse, i think i have a bigger problem with my system if i can save / transfer data from drives (4) ssd i will do a clean install and see what happens the steel series apex pro should have worked

Only problem most mice and keyboards is with drivers and software, most will work without drivers and software in Windows.
