I do not understand Win11 audio output settings. I'm stuck without sound.

I have a simple setup: A pair of Amazon Basics USB-powered speakers connected to the audio jack on my NUC.
I do not understand how to connect from sources on my hard drive (recordings, YouTube, live video) to these small speakers. Under Settings-System-Sound, I can choose:
Realtek Digital Output, Asus Audio (Monitor) or Speakers (Realtek Audio)

I have tried selecting each of these three outputs. None of them sends sound from the NUC to the small speakers. I have checked the simple volume control on the speaker cables to make sure it is not muted.

Thanks for any advice.

Don't know about the NUC but have managed to acquire a few sets of Dell speakers that use the USB for power and the light green plug for the light green port on a Desktop or the audio out port on a Notebook, have no issues but they are USB 2 sets [black centers in the port and the plug].

Thanks so much Berton. I had the speakers working for a while some weeks ago, but I use hearing aids, and the arrival of a new set got me messing with the audio settings, that's when I lost the speakers.
I can get them to make a tone when I use the "test" button in the sound settings, but I can't connect sound from something like a YouTube show to the speakers.
I think my problem is somewhere in the Settings. I can describe more about the settings if that might be useful.

Try this.
Start a youtube video in your browser. While it's playing, right click on your speaker icon in bottom right system tray. Select Open Volume mixer.
1. Beside 'volume' make sure little speaker is not muted and slider is about 50%. If little speaker has a line thru it, click it to unmute.
2. Output device should be Speakers (realtek audio)
3. Under APPS, your browser should be listed. Make sure it's little sound icon is not muted. If it is click the icon to unmute. Click drop arrow to the right. Make sure output device is set to default.

Maybe you need to set the "playback" device?
Play a song or something. You should see the little green bars, moving in time to the music (bottom pic).
If you don't.... then you need to set the default playback device.

To post a screenshot on this forum...

1. Take the screenshot, edit it as desired, save to your desktop as .png or .jpg (max. size = 2MB)
2. Left click in your post, where you want to place the screenshot.
3. Click the Attach Files button at lower left, browse to your pic and click Insert.
4. After clicking Insert, I usually choose the Thumbnail (smaller) option, or the Full Image (larger) option.

If the "new" PrtSc key function is not to your liking... here is how to set it back to it's classic function...

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 15 years?
Thank you all. Using pieces of several posts, I was able to get my sound back.
