Actually Fax is surprisingly useful when you need to send secure / proprietary documents. Standard email transmission of scans can be too easily either missed (typical people in largish organisations often get zillions of emails so easy to miss / delete something), plus it's much harder for other 3rd parties including Police and FBI to get a copy of the transmitted fax especially if the line is scrambled at both ends. The destination fax can be in a dedicated secure area too away from prying eyes.I challenge you to do it. The download no longer works. Anyway, who needs fax these days? Windows Scan is what is currently available, Fax and Scan is not.
Some of this older technology might seem quite Dinosaur like to some - but it's often much harder to break than more modern stuff -- also with a lot of this stuff the knowlege base is quite quickly disappearing too. I still find on XP (on a VM) the old winfax program very effective !!!
So don't always turn your nose up at this older stuff. A simple one time pad for example will beat any modern encryption whether using a classical or a quantum computer. !!!
