I have a bad habit of leaving a lot of Notepad windows open at once. I do a lot of text capturing from websites that are not important enough to me to save right away so I open up a new Notepad window, paste the text, and move on. After a day of doing this, I may have 50 Notepad windows open and then I look through them and save what I want. If I am feeling tired it will sometimes take me days to get through them all. Under Windows 10 this was never a problem. As long as the computer did not crash the Notepad windows always stayed open until I closed them. This does not work with Windows 11.
After I have a lot of Notepad windows open if I wait too long or have too many Notepad windows open, they just disappear. This has happened twice now. Just now I had a lot of Notepad windows open and when I went to look for one only 5 Notepad windows were still left open. There was no warning, no sound, no crashed pages, just 5 and the rest were gone.
Is there a limit to how many open Notepad windows can be open at once? Has anyone else seen this happen?
I just installed Notepad+ which has auto-save, but I am curious about why this strange Notepad behavior happens.
Windows 11 Version 21H2
Thank you
