Only icons in Recycle Bin instead of imaged thumbnails from RAW files?

I am a photography hobbyist and shoot my photos in RAW (file attribute is .rw2.) I have installed MS's RAW "Image Extension into Windows 10" (from MS store) which allows File Explorer to show RAW files as photo images. Although my RAW files do show up as photo image thumbnails in File Explorer, they only occasionally show up as imaged thumbnails in the recycle bin; otherwise, 90+% of the discarded RAWs show up as simple icons in the RB. The only way that I can presently see the thumbnail representative RAW images in the recycle bin is to either drag them into the RB's preview pane, or place the cursor on them and press the space bar (installed Outlook 3.7.3 to do this.)

The only thing I can think of as a possible reason why this is happening is that the Image Extension was installed back in 2021 and maybe the newer windows updates need the Image Extension to be updated?? However, I'm fearful of trying that as I'm not sure how to do it and don't want to take the chance of screwing up things. Thanks.

I think this is normal. I don't remember Recycle Bin showing thumbnails of images or videos. You can see what is was from the title (if descriptive) or you have to preview it. That same is true if you access photos and videos from a smartphone connected to the PC. You only see icons. I believe this is done to save bandwidth because showing thumbnails for every single photo and video would require too much access time to be practical.

The recycle bin wouldn't be a normal place for someone to browse files, presumably they were vetted before you decided to delete them.

I suspect you move your raw photos to the recycle bin and you go back when you need one, otherwise you empty the bin. I would move the files in another folder and simply delete them when I am sure I don't need them anymore. This way you don't risk to lose everything if you accidentally empty the bin plus you can see thumbnails when you search for one. You can also switch to details and sort by date, so you can easily find the latest ones.

You are quite correct about how I utilize the RB. I understand the "workaround" of moving those files to another folder (like, Deleted RAWs,) but I guess I'll just continue to use quicklook to view those icons that are not showing an image in the RB.
