Opinion: I hope Win 11 can roll out to older cpu late 2022

Sure, they want to make money. microsoft is different. They don't just want to make money, they want to dictate terms of how it's made.

Oh there are so many examples of how wrong that is, I don't know where to begin. Look at the Internet Explorer/Netscape debacle or the Windows Media Player shenanigans, or even Windows 8... We could for on for days like this, it's sufficient to say they never want to admit they're wrong.

For what is worth I did a clean installation on an older system, with a broadwell chip, and everything is working including updates, core isolation is working, and I got the message that my system meets basic hardware requirements for W11.

True for everybody so far, I think. We're getting the daily Defenders, but nothing else. Let's watch on Cabbage Patch Tuesday, and see whether the proverbial s--- hits the fan. If not then, the test will come down the road, and not too far down the road, either.

Hi,
I noticed get office and other ms products updates unchecked in settings
Probably a good thing from past experiences lol

I'm on metered so even drivers don't really download until I say so but then again I also have do not update drivers reg :oops:
So yeah settings matter too.

Posted somewhere else receiving & sending updates to others on the internet was activated not like win-10 usually defaulted to only your local network
But early 10 was also defaulting to that crap.

The way I see it is that W11 will run very well on many older systems, many of which are much higher powered than either of mine, it is only the greater threat of attack via the internet that Microsoft is concerned about. The trouble is that often vulnerable machines go on to help spread the malware, rather like CO19 denial.
