PC not recognizing iphone

I have been trying to move most of my photos from my iPhone to my Win 11 PC. First, File explorer does not see plugged in iphone. iTunes for windows does not see it either. I know the cords are working. I then downloaded and installed the Apple Device App for windows. It also does not see the phone. Most, if not all, of my photos are in iCloud, but I want to clear it by moving to a storage disk on my PC. So far, I have over 12,000 photos and 4,000 videos. What do I need to do to get the PC to recognize my ios devices?

I decided to connect my iPad to my PC and it seems to be working.

I have thought about using an app, but the problem is that, though the phone is wifi, the PC is wired ethernet. Not sure if that will work.

Go for it

The apps will search for each other and should be found.

The app needs to be open on the iPhone, the app needs to be open on the PC, at the same time.

I figured it wouldn't work. My iPhone is on a wireless network and my PC is on another network, ethernet hard wired.

if you want wireless, you can use any form of cloud, or if you have a nas, most have their own too

Ay? So you’re saying that your Router doesn’t have WiFi?

Turn on WiFi on your iPhone?

If you don’t have WiFi turned on, i’d be interested to know why? As soon as you’re within range of your router, the iPhone will switch to WiFi. Most people would do this to avoid Mobile Data costs.

It never ceases to amaze me why manufacturers make this such a convoluted p-i-t-a!!!
It's a device with a recognizable file system tethered to another device with a recognizable file system...,
It should be as easy as, plug it in and drag-n-drop, for feck sakes!

You might try uploading your photos from your phone to Amazon Photos then download to your computer if you want. Amazon allows full resolution unlimited storage for photos with Prime.

Also, i don't know about the computer you are using, but some computers (like one of my Dells) have a USB port that is for power only to the connected device and cannot connect for data purposes. You might try changing which port you are using and check that with your manufacturer specs.

I disabled the WiFi on my AT&T router so that I could use a mesh router throughout the house. My mesh router handles all of my wifi devices, while the wired router (AT&T Fiber) handles my PC. If there is another way to integrate the two routers, I don't know how to do that. I hope this makes sense.

That sounds like a good option. I will look into that. My only concern is, like google photos, whatever I delete from Google deletes my iphone photos also.

Deletion from Amazon photos has not deleted photos on my phone, nor vice versa.

I will add in my 2 cents. I use iTunes to back up my phone to my computer, which still works. I also used to be able to use iTunes to update my iPhone. I do not use iCloud for image or video storage. For the last year, or two, I have been unable to update my phone through this method, even though I am on an ethernet connection, and the phone is wired through a USB-C cable. I have to use my wi-fi connection to update my phone, these days.
That said, I have found that my PC, once hooked to my phone by USB-C cable, and with the phone unlocked, sees the phone as a storage device in File Explorer, and I am able to transfer videos and pix to my computer from the phone by copying and pasting.

Another method I have tried is PairDrop at PairDrop , which seem to work OK, and, will work in both directions, and doesn't require an app.

I grew tired of having similar problems so i opted for a program called iMazing.
It's very good and there is no bloated hard to use iTunes.
The licence is per device not per computer or user so you can install it on any number of computers.
They have excellent support services.
