I updated to the new Win 11 OS Build 22621.1992 today, and now I've lost all my personalization settings, as well as things like my default browser info (I don't use Edge), being signed out of OneDrive and Office 365. Has anyone else had any problems like this? Any suggestions on how I can make setting changes and have them stick? This is very annoying. Also, my hard drive seems to be spinning a WHOLE lot more than it used to and is running hotter because of it. That's pretty concerning.

Yesterday I have updated to Ver 22H2 Build 22621.1992.
Have none of your problems, all personalized setting are still there.
I use as default browser and that browser still is default.
But I use neither OneDrive (disabled it) nor Office 365.

I don't use a hard drive anymore (all SSD drives exept external backup drives).
The temperature of those SSD drives is as usual, very low.

Seems to me there should be some other reason, but I don't have abn idea what that should be.
Did you make a restore point before the update? Or did you make an inage of your system drive (I always do that before an important update).
In either case you could go back to the situation before the update.

Cannot comment on the settings issue, all i can say is I don't see how there would be a connection. Regarding the HDD activity i would look at task manager and the disk activity column see which app/process has the most usage (you can sort big to small clicking the header). the update could cause a particular process to go nuts but i doubt it will stay like that. Just wait a little, reboot and see what happens. Don't you just hate it when somebody responds i don't have that problem i have SSDs? (it really does help)

Thanks for the reply. I guess windows was still processing the update in the background without telling me. Most things are working now, but I had to reset all my personalization settings. It even wiped out all my bookmarks from Firefox. My HDD has settled down and isn’t spinning like crazy any more.
