R.I.P and condolences to any Brits on these Forums. --I'm not a Royalist but HMQ E II was such a power and stability over her extraordinary 70 year reign where almost every world leader on the planet benefited from her huge experience in these unsettling times makes her loss really sad and the like of her won't be seen again.

R.I.P "to the Good Lady" and just hope anybody even trying to follow in her shoes will have an almost impossible mission to follow will do their best to emulate her.

I also saw The Kings plane flying from Aberdeen to RAF Northolt in London over my house. I took a pic but the plane cant be seen, I did see it with my own eyes though

Britain has never claimed the longest reign in the world but here. Putting a king on the throne at 5 should not count as his Regent would have ruled in his stead for a certain number of years.

Actually I think the discussion point was who was a monarch for the longest time rather than who actually ruled so even if the person was 5 he was still king although not ruling -- although some 5 year olds can be quite successful in getting what they want. !!! A good example was Richard I who was away from England for pretty well the whole of his reign so he wasn't "ruling" but was still King.

Regarding your two erroneous images. The funeral of Queen Elizabeth II will not take place until September 19th, so how can you be showing us a picture of the funeral cortege? It was in fact as someone correctly pointed out, the funeral of Elizabeth II mother, known as the Queen Mother (Widow of George VI). The image above is of Queen Victoria, again, a first child monarch, who died over 110 years ago. I strongly recommend you study history in school. It can be quite informative. As Philip was Prince Consort to HM Queen Elizabeth, Camilla, Charles 2nd wife, is Queen Consort. She is not QUEEN.

One minor clarification - the crown did not automatically pass to the 1st child upon death of ruling monarch. It actually passed to 1st son. It only used to pass to a daughter if she had no brothers even if she was oldest.

That is in part why there have been a lot more Kings than Queens.

The succession law has now been changed (only a few years ago actually), to reflect modern equality expectations, and now the crown passes to 1st child despite gender.
