Well.. you're correct but there are users that will still use 11 on non compatible devices for some reason. It's not like they can't keep using 10 for 4 more years or something.

It remains to be seen if Windows Update magically ceases to work on unsupported hardware after October 5th. My System Two below is very much below spec but so far it gets all the CUs. I'll continue to run 11 on it after release, just to test if MS are bluffing or not. I still have its original W10 HDD to put back in if it turns out to be true

- fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.
My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro (and all my Hyper-V VMs).

I guess I'm pretty much one of the oddballs, in that I run the most dangerous Beta/DEV version as a dual boot with Windows 10. Further, though, I also don't do a whole lot of customization. Fewer bugs to report, dontchaknow!I hope you are correct. Me, I expect the worse and plan accordingly - that way I won't be disappointed
My point is that any conclusions we draw from the Dev/Beta builds can only be guesswork at best. It would be taking a risk to upgrade our main/only PC now and expect it to run the RTM release without problems. Worst case scenario would require a clean install to go back to W10.
Me too, so the rest of my below spec machines will stay on W10, supported until 2025.
That said, this morning when I booted into Windows 10 and checked for updates, I was notified:
Update & Security: Upgrade to Windows 11 is ready and it is Free!
Get the latest version of Windows
Note: Some Windows 10 features aren't available in Windows 11. Certain apps and features may have additional requirements.
Me: Uhhhhhh, nope, not no way nohow! I want to stay on Windows 10 so I can create lessons for my Windows 10 students!
And thank goodness I see at the very bottom:
Download and Install and Stay on Windows 10 for now
Whew!!!! I chose to Stay on Windows 10 for now!

The offer completely disappeared, Bree. I checked optional downloads and it wasn't there either.
However, I fully expect to be offered the Windows 11 update again on October 5. Microsoft ain't nuttin' if it ain't persistent!
Since I'm already running the DEV version via dual booting, I don't need to know what's coming up. :)
