The new Outlook is basically a web app that is using the interface from 'https://outlook.live.com/mail/0/'. In this case, it is configured to match with your accent colors.

Denis the screenshot above is Classic Outlook for Windows with the simplified ribbon. The Classic Outlook for Windows with the Classic Ribbon is what I like.. It's nearer to what we've always expected of older versions of Outlook.

I bought Office 2021 just so I could understand discussions about it / 365 in the forums.
I'm still glad that I don't have to use it.
I use the much better Outlook 2007 version.

You're referring to the New Outlook that is replacing the Windows Mail app. I do not use that. I use Outlook that is part of MS Office2021. It is the same version of Outlook that is in 365 except users pay a one-time fee rather than a subscription for 365. Both are way different from the app in the features it offers. The app is great for most people's email needs, though.

You got that right. Best version of Word and Outlook... ever. The only reason I bought 2021 was when we all got it cheap...and gmail doesn't consider it a "less secure app" like it does Outlook 2007. It was much easier managing 4 email accounts in 2007 than in 2021 and I could work Word backwards and forwards. With the new Word I have to search for mostly everything. I regret uninstalling 2007 now....and I could have me a new pair of shoes for the money I spent.

Well, mine has been like this for quite some time now. I don't recall exactly when this got changed and was
a bit surprised at the change as well. However, I only use it for business emails and nothing else. No one other
than my business dealings now about this email address as my main email client for everything else is Gmail.
But, am glad to see that you were able to revert the changes and am in awe that you were brave enough to
play around with the registry not knowing if your fix would work. Initiative Lady!

Yes, apparently it got changed a long time ago and I was not aware of it. I don't have to use it very often
but, it was still a surprise to see the change without me asking for it. I just got used to it after a while.
I still miss the simplicity of the old one though.

Thanks for the heads up! The naming scheme is really confusing me. Outlook 2021 is great and all, but its sad to see Mail and Calendar go away. Not only was it great for basic emails, but it was also fast, lightweight and not a resource hog. It was all I ever needed.

The new Outlook that has replaced Mail and Calendar is faster for me than Mail and Calendar ever was. I have 4 Outlook.com accounts (well, 3, one is still receiving mail only as a hotmail.com account because the same username in outlook.com was already taken), and it loads almost too fast - I click the link, and it pops up then replaces the popup with the maximized window - within a second.

Mama G, I've used TBird for a long time as a backup to other means, which is probably one reason why I won't use Outlook from Office unless I absolutely have to (like for work).

It's gotten a lot better at setting up accounts, and I prefer it's true customizabillity over Outlook, though the Quick Steps and a few other things are missing features in TBird.

Nah. It wasn't brave. It was already broken for my use. I will own up to having to restore an image anyway, though. It pulled up my pop emails for one session before it bit the dust so my little idea ended up not being worth diddly long term....but I tried. Restoring the image got me back to Outlook Classic with .pst files for my pop emails working but for some reason the 'try new outlook' toggle is still not there.

I did learn something in my reading though. The way to determine at a glance whether one is using Classic or New outlook (no matter what version one uses...the app, webmail, or desktop Outlook is, if "FILE" appears on the toolbar, it's Classic. "File" does not appear in Outlook New

Hi folks
I'm running outlook from Office 2021 LTSC and its working properly. There's both versions available but I use just the outlook from Office 2021. I think you can uninstall the other one if you aren't on office/365 or windows 11 home edition.

Latest version (DEV) of W11 Pro has this :

Office/365 and a mail app is on the default stuff.. If you have Office 2021 installed then all the normal office programs work "as usual" so I'm not sure what the issue is here.

The issue is that Microsoft is also pushing (outside of the New Outlook App) a new version for the Outlook program in Office 2021 and some of us were updated without toggling the offer on.

Hi there
I suppose the answer is probably because the LTSC version isn't updated very often is that I've still got the standard version of outlook. I also select for Microsoft updates - only update Windows and not other Microsoft products and on office only select update manually.

However if it becomes "unavoidable" then I'll probably switch to Thunderbird and on Linux to both Thunderbird and KMAIL.

Yes I am thinking the same thing and I do believe it will become unavoidable. Edwin is the only person I know who has tried both.

Now I'm hesitant to toggle on the Try the new Outlook switch to see if the Zoom plugin works on it yet. Rather not take my chances.
