Razer Zyphyr anyone?

How much do you think the Razer Zypher is going to run for. It's being released at 8PM PST. I think around $200....

I just need a hoodie and a Zyphyr, and I, too, will look like a 22nd-century criminal!

I don't know, but when I visited the site I was offered $10 off, although that is not my local currency.

It does look a bit Cyberpunk, doesn't it?

It does. I just need a smart gun.

It's a behemoth of an air filtration system. Might as well get a hazmat helmet with 02 attached. That might be smaller.

They may have found a niche - depends on which way Global Warming goes. If Governments can't solve it, then individuals will have to live with it ...

True. I know it originally was made in response to the pandemic. I tried to get into the beta testing group, but I was denied. I'm kind of glad for that because it's a little noticeable.

I wonder what the tests are? Wear mask then expose yourself to COVID-19, or turn on RGB and pounce on people at bus stops and banks, perhaps? :winkt:

I wondered why they turned me down as well. I thought I provided a solid rationale for wanting to test it out. My wife has a rare immune disorder, so I can't catch COVID-19 or it would be fatal to her.

I'm also thinking the tests probably consisted of the pouncing on people! :ROFLMAO:

I'm sorry to hear. I have relatives who had to self-isolate for a year because of medical complications with their condition and the risk of catching Covid. Now there is a vaccine, in my country, they are giving priority Covid jabs to people with weakened immune systems.

According to this Razer will allow you to sign up to try out their RGB face mask , beta testers might not receive the mask that featured in the picture so maybe they were doing a favour and reducing their potential liability if it did not work out as you were wishing.

I also note, on the actual Zephyr webpage, in the FAQ section:

Will the Razer Zephyr protect me from Covid-19?
Razer Zephyr is not a medical device, respirator, surgical mask or personal protective equipment (PPE) and is not meant to be used on medical or clinical settings. It is not tested specifically against the COVID-19 virus, but offers the same functionality and adequate protection due to its 99% BFE rating.

Suggests that Razer would exclude use for medical settings. If that is any help ... so, it is just for pouncing on people

Unfortunately, my wife has severe chronic Neutropenia and can't receive the vaccine. The last few who had her disorder and chose to get it, some against their specialists' orders, died. We didn't want that, obviously. So, she's been quarantined for two years. I'm basically the same. It's good we both work from home.

Yeah, the Zephyr is probably only good for pouncing on people as you say! :ROFLMAO:

It's only $99. Of course, it's sold out already. Hm. It's probably being used for LARP. Or pouncing on people. It's almost worth trying out!

Good luck. It is a shame LARP people are being a priority when you have a medical need.
Is that price including the filters? I see the filters only last three days. So a user would need a bag of filters, from Razer.
Had you widened your search to look for other makes of "Respirator Mask"?
I found this one on UK stores, maybe you have an equivalent:

6800 | 3M 6000 Series Full-Type Respirator Mask, Size Medium | RS

It is an industrial grade mask at £122. Fractionally dearer than the Razer, without the gimmicky additions like fans and RGB.
It is in stock, which is the main concern.

Thanks! I'll have to look into other masks. I don't want a full face mask, so I'll have to shop around. I think the Razer filters are separate - they have a bundle for something like $150 with 10 filters that last 30 days each. Considering we don't leave the house often, those would last us far longer than 30 days.

I would think it is more effective than wearing a cloth or disposable mask. I also think the warning about not for medical use is because it's not federally approved to be used professionally.

I was thinking the same on both issues. Anything that will provide me and my wife with more freedom (not much, but a little more), I'm willing to get. It has a carbon filter, so that's not bad. Razer says it's N95 compliant, but it might be K95 compliant, which is the same but not federally rated as N95. I put myself on the contact list for when they have them in stock again and plan on getting 2 and plenty of filters.

With your wife being a very high risk person I would go for it. Unless you can find something better.

N95 is the weakest of the complaints, it is actually no better than the disposable masks. There is also N99 and N100, which offer more protection.

True on all accounts. They don't have N99 or N100 particulate filters, unfortunately.
