RDP error on system restart

Under Win10 when a Restart was requested via Remote Desktop the Remote Desktop connection just quietly ended. On a remote Win11 I get and error:
This is not terribly upsetting - the same error would happen on Win10 when the remote computer was put to sleep. However, for the Restart it looks like Win10 gracefully terminated the connection but Win11 just pulls the rug out from under the connection.
Do I have some option set wrong or is this just the way things work on Win11?

Nothing wrong with that message. It's simply telling you your RDP connection was lost when you restarted the remote PC. I get the same notice when I do the same - restart the remote computer. It does seem to a Windows 11 thing.
BTW, I'm remoting from a Windows 11 machine to a Windows 11 machine.

I understand there's nothing wrong with the message. I just don't understand why I'm getting it on Win11 bbut not on Win10.

Well Windows 11 is not Windows 10 as a lot of things have changed. That said, I have no answer to the why.
As to your question...
Do I have some option set wrong or is this just the way things work on Win11?
None I'm aware of. It's just the way things work for Windows 11.
Good luck.
