Well I am trying to start on "American Prometheus" about Robert Oppenheimer. I found a bookmark in it from a long time ago at page 102 - I didn't finish it for some reason - it is about 600 pages. So I guess I will need to start all over again. 🤣

@geneo: Yeah, maybe. I used to have a kind of religious thing about that: If you start it, you finish it. Now, I don't feel any of that compulsion. If I give it 50 to 100 pages or so and it hasn't grabbed me, it gets closed and recirculated/given away/sold. Mostly, I donate them to the independent local new-and-used bookstore, to help support it and keep it open. I get most of my new and used books there, instead of buying them from Jeff Bezos, who definitely doesn't need the money.

I recently started Jonathan Franzen's The Corrections, but gave it up after about 75 pages.

Now I'm reading The Dictionary of Lost Words, a good background story about the making of the original (huge) Oxford English Dictionary. Sounds ho-hum, but it's actually quite good.
