Realtek "Sound Research Corp. Extension" makes volume stuck at 100%

I am mad as "H E double hockey sticks!" Every few months this happens and I have to roll back the Realtek driver again. I have told Windows to "hide" this update "Sound Research Corp. - Extension - 16.66.88.4094" and it WONT hide it for long. I thought "Windows Show Hide" would permanently "hide" this?

Anyone else have this problem? Can I delete Realtek altogether and use AMD audio, since I see that on my laptop too?

If that update is coming with a Windows Update, you might want to try this...

The regedit method in what @Ghot said should do it. But I would also do this as well.
Search restore point. Select create a restore point from search results.
Click Hardware tab
Select Device Installation Setting box
Make sure NO is selected

Thx to you both. I followed Ghot link and used the instructions from Brink on the reg hack. Will see what happens in a month, when it usually tries again to install. From what I've been reading, Synaptics is involved with the extension, but Realtek is the driver.

Here is the current driver that works fine, (gray background in the middle) and the one messing up the sound is the newer on the bottom.
