Solved Removing "Compress to ZIP file" context menu option

Hi all,

could anybody point me to the correct registry item to remove, to disable the "Compress to ZIP file" context menu item from the new Windows 11 context menu? I was able to find guides to remove just about any other item from that menu, except for this one. None of the often suggested software options (Winaero Tweaker, Shell Menu View, etc.) seem to be able to do this either.

Just to clarify, I really mean the "Compress to ZIP file" one, and not the "Extract" option or the "ZIP file" option under "New", those are easy to get rid off.

But no, I cannot use the 3rd option, that tutorial is about removing the items from the "New" subsection of the Windows 11 context menu, I am not looking for that. I'd like to remove the "Compress to ZIP file" option from the root of the context menu.

Option three has an add and remove option to use for it.

If you Hide it in the shell:sendto folder, 'Compress to ZIP file' will disappear from the regular context menu...

I got rid of mine using the hack from MajorGeeks with the old Context Menu. 🤷‍♂️

This works 100%, just tried it.
1) In any File Explorer window, edit the address and type: shell:sendto
2) Hit Enter
3) Delete the "Compressed Folder Shortcut" (might as well delete the Fax, who uses that)
