Searching for hard disk/SSD bad sectors repairing tool

Is there any tool\software which can detect bad sectors on internal\external hard drives or SSD and unallocate the found bad sectors automatically?
So that such partial faulty drives can be reused for Windows installation.
The tool\softwares should be able to do this on external devices also and should locate such bad sectors in the start, middle, last or anywhere on the drive?
Can such tool\software be used safely on SSD?

Open a command prompt as admin and run this command...

chkdsk X: /r (where X is the drive you want to scan/fix)


So let's say it's the... D: drive. The command would be...

chkdsk d: /r





Note: If it's the Windows drive, the computer will need to reboot to run chkdsk.

Does this software unallocate the bad sectors found anywhere on hard drive \ssd whether internal or external?
No matter whether it repairs or not.
Recently I watched a video of Windows 7 installation on internal HDD. The HDD had bad sectors in the start portion. Upon creating 10 gb unallocated space in the start portion, it successfully continued the installation process and booted completely to desktop without any errors.

SSDs don't have "sectors".
On hard drives, chkdsk will find any bad sectors and "mark" them as bad, so they won't be used.

That will tell you if your "drive" is bad or not.

Usually, if a sector is deemed bad it means that it cannot read or store any data.
A bad sector is a physical fault of the HDD and not a software fault.

As for SSDs, depending on the drive , it usually comes with software that will diagnose
the SSD and tell you if it is about to fail or at least it should.

By which I meant: if an HDD has bad sectors, isn't the usual recommendation to replace it?

chkdsk /r is claimed to attempt to recover data, so it may be worth running even if copying the data off the disk and then discarding it is intended.

If I remember correctly you also need the /b parameter. The full syntax is:
chkdsk D: /f /b /r
where D: is the drive letter of your disk (change as appropriate).

Note that CrystalDiskInfo and other programs that rely on SMART to evaluate disk health can miss bad drives. I spent many hours, recently, troubleshooting an erratic system, misled by CrystalDiskInfo into believing I must have a software problem until running Chkdsk outside windows finally confirmed that that the drive itself was bad, then confirming it by copying large amounts of data to the drive and checking that data against the original. A week later, the drive failed completely.
