Solved Secure Boot and BIOS update

Since May 2020, I've done six BIOS updates. Some, didn't change any settings, some did.
It all depends on which settings you have changed, and which settings were changed in the newer BIOS version.

I don't think there is one rule that works for all cases. At least, there doesn't seem to be from my experiences.
And I've only used ASUS motherboards, for the last 20 years.

True. I had values survive over a BIOS update too, but I simply consider them forfeit when I start the process. :) Especially when they change settings that are meant to work in conjuction with a set of other settings, it's often simply cleaner (and better) to reset them all.

What you say is true, though: you can't expect a unifom experience across hardware and manufacturer platforms.

N.B. Still surprises me, though, that Secure Boot, which is still on, still works without Windows complaining about key mismatches. So, either Windows apparently does nothing with the BIOS keys (which would be kinda weird), or the BIOS keys simply didn't change (also slightly unexpected, but fortunate, if that was the case).

Well I'll be...and here I was messing with my smart phone the whole time. Thanks for the tip! One note, the USB stick needs to be formatted FAT32.

F12 is the key for BIOS screenshots on ASUS boards. It may be different or non-existent on other boards.

Good to know. Works perfect with my ASUS board. And they look so much better than taking a picture.

For desktop boards, it's either F2 or Delete as explained in the owner's manual. I've always used Delete to enter the BIOS on my Gigabyte boards, but F2 also works.

Yep.
But we're discussing taking a screenshot once you're IN the BIOS.
On ASUS boards... that would be the F12 key... to "take" the screenshot.

Doh! I obviously missed the word "screenshot" in your post I quoted. I stand corrected

And, yeah, even on Gigabyte boards, F12 takes a screenshot. You'll need a thumb drive attached to save the file (Gigabyte).
