I haven't had a spinning hard disk in a PC in years now. I go to no extremes.

The way I look at it
1). I'm spending the money on the drive to increase my system performance. Why would I want to reduce system performance by putting stuff back on older spinning drives.
2). I make backups of my drives from time to time, so in the event that a drive did die, I wouldn't lose all of my data. These backups should still be happening regardless of whether the data is on an SSD or HDD...so no more effort on my part than there would otherwise be.
3). I've yet to have an SSD die on my at home. I probably have 20 of them, some are nearing 14 years old and I never have done anything on any of them to reduce writes.

I also am still in the non liquid cooler camp. For me, It's not worth the risk and I think a solid air cooler works just fine and my 3 years of system stability proves that for me that is the case even with my most powerful system. This way I don't have to deal with radiator mounts, and space constraint issues in my box.

I currently run a 12 core AMD Ryzen 9-5900X with a BeQuiet Dark Rock Pro 4 and a i absolutely love it. My wife has a 6 core Ryzen 5-3600x with the stock AMD cooler and while it works fine....it makes so much more noise than my Dark Rock Pro 4. My PC is less than a foot from me, and my wife's PC is 5 feet away and I can hear her stock fan over my cooler.

Well hopefully my worryness goes away at some point, and i'm more comfortable with using all SSD in the foreseeable future if i shall choose to go that way

Run an Intel I7 10700 with Arctic Freezer 7X (unforuately i didn't do well installing Be Quiet Pure Rock 2 on my system) took to local shop, forgot to take the new Be Quiet Pure Rock 2 along, Family member that gave me a ride wouldn't go back to get the cooler i wanted, so settled on Arctic Freezer 7X for time being

CPU Cooler height limit in this case is 160mm

Anyways might be a slow process for me to get more comfortable with the SSD writes and such, but hopefully its not too slow of a progress lol

Well, if it makes you feel any better, I spent almost $400 back in 2009 on an 80GB Intel X25-M Gen 2. That drive still works, or did the last time I tried to use it. At 80GB, it's pretty much useless to me now. That comes out to $5 per GB.

Today you can get a 1TB Crucial SSD ( That's 12.5 times the size of my original drive), for around $40 from Amazon ( that's 10% of the price that I paid) . That's 4 cents per GB. Seems hardly worth the worry for the cost.,,,,but then again I don't know what anybody else's budget constraints are.

Well i feel alot better thus far, and it will take time til im fully comfortable as it always does with things with me lol--but slowly starting to feel more comfortable a bit, not fully yet, but slowly getting there
