OS
Windows 11 (24H2) Home
Hi-
I just received an update from Sound Research Corp., which was installed via Windows Update. It was not an optional update. Is anyone familiar with this particular item?
It seems to change my audio so that both my external speakers and my PC's inboard speakers now both produce audio output simultaneously. My PC in an HP Pavilion running:
Edition Windows 11 Home
Version 22H2
Installed on ‎4/‎14/‎2023
OS build 22621.2134
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22659.1000.0

Any comments, or guidance, is appreciated. Thanks.

Looks like this extension has been around for a while and is associated with HP. See this article (very old thread) on Windows Ten Forums.

Use Option #2 Step 3 to disable include drivers with windows update

Then try to roll back the driver.
Open Device Manager
- Expand 'Software components' - you should see 'Sound Research Audio Effects Component'
- click on it and go to the Driver tab
- click on Roll Back Driver
Also check 'Software devices' and do the same thing there if anything similar shows up there relating to that component

If you are unable to rollback driver, right click on that software component and uninstall (be sure to check the box to remove driver)
