On my Windows 11 PC I have Open Shell installed (I mentioned this in case it's relevant).
A few hours ago I had a dialog box prompt in Windows to install a 'Start Menu' update. I was in a hurry to get something done and just accepted the update, acknowledging it via the usual separate Windows 'do you trust' this software?' dialog box..
Now though I'm wondering if I've inadvertently run something malicious.
I should point out that the PC regularly gets virus checked with Eset's antivirus software, and since the suspect install I've also re-run Eset as well as Malwarebytes and all is clean.
However it's really bugging me. I don't think it was Open Shell doing this because, even though I don't know what version it was on prior to this Start Menu update, I've now checked and it's not on the most recent version, so I'm not convinced it was that causing the prompt.
Not sure what else to check really, all looks good so far. I've spent ages online looking for any potential issues but have come up with zero.
I should note that if I recall correctly I may have had a similar prompt on my other PC (running Windows 10) a few days ago and this runs Classic Shell, the forerunner to Open Shell. I said No to that update though.
So I'm puzzled.
Any ideas please?
Can I see any kind of history of 3rd party updates within Win 11 ? (I don't mean Microsoft updates).
Thanks
