I am a paid, very happy, Startallback customer, fully updated. I am using Startallback on my Windows 11 Laptop which also is fully W11 updated. First, my taskbar is NOT set to autohide. It is at the bottom of my screen. But when i drag any window down, it covers my taskbar. I want the taskbar to ALWAYS be on top, such that any window would be BEHIND it, not on top of it, blocking it.

IMO, this would be a GIANT improvement to Windows 11 / Startallback if it is possible - thank you!

Welcome.

Just so you know, If you have a suggestion for StartAllBack, maybe find an avenue to let them know.
As for Windows 11, this is a user forum of volunteers helping others and each other with Windows 11. There is no affiliation with Microsoft or StartAllBack here.

But when i drag any window down, it covers my taskbar

That, members might be able to help you solve 🙏

If you click top right to go to full screen with a window, does it cover the Taskbar or does that only happen when you drag the bottom of a window down?

I do not use SAB but I do use autohide and had problems with my taskbar being behind open windows. . I think the issue you are having with SAB is the same as exists when using the native Windows taskbar. It is not an issue at all. It is designed that way.

One runs into this when he sets an app to open full screen (in its properties). Instead of running any app full screen I have found manually setting its properties to open in normal window and then resizing its window by dragging the edges until it is several pixels shy of full screen stops this from happening. Windows OS remembers the size you have chosen for that app and opens it that same size every time.

The one thing that can interfere with this is, if you use the snap feature and close the window without unsnapping the window back to normal size first, it will mess up your custom sizing. ALWAYS unsnap a windows before closing.

Hi Sinto - thanks, you are right - i paused windows updates a couple days ago and presumed i was up to date - to answer your question, it only covers the taskbar when i drag a window down - never when a window is in full screen

The first thing I would do, Steve; To conclude if this is a StartAllBack issue or a Windows issue, disable or uninstall StartAllBack.

thanks glasskutter - i understand what you are suggesting, but my issue is a bit different - i have no problem in normal full screen, only when i am dragging a window down, it covers the taskbar window (i call it a window because i think it has window characteristics) - i want the taskbar (window) to always be on top of any other window

thanks again Sinto - i went to see how i could easily exit Startallback, and i went to the welcome screen. On the SAB welcome screen, it listed 3 theme options. For some reason, i was monkeying around and tried enabling the first and then the second, having previously selected the third ("Remastered Windows 7"), then i went back to the third as i liked it best. But still not finding an easy exit button, i instinctively moved the SAB properties page window lower to read a website i was searching on, and viola!, the SAB window was now BEHIND the taskbar - and then testing every other window, they too were now behind the taskbar - so problem seemingly solved by jiggering around SAB themes - i have had previous issues with SAB taskbar icons, so i know it is a work in progress, even as it provides functionality that i very much appreciate - so thank you for your suggestions and prompt feedback! i occasionally have windows questions & issues, and this forum of very responsive and helpful users is an awesome find!

Good to read, Steve. Sometimes doing something simple can kick things into gear.

StartAllBack seems to have the most useless website I have ever seen. It has no indication where one would go for support or a simple discussion.

I’d suggest in future if StatAllBack is causing you issues, post in the StartAllBack thread and I am guessing people who use it, might be able to help.

Steve, you could ask another question in here if you wanted, but be aware:

  • Anyone that has already identified this thread and knows they can not help you with StartAllBack, probably wouldn’t look again, so there may be help you could miss out on.
  • There is no penalty on how many threads you create when or if you need help.

I would create a new thread.
Juts try to post in the most relevant forum to your question. If you post in the wrong section, a moderator will move it so no drama. 🙏

Steve, you could ask another question in here if you wanted, but be aware:

  • Anyone that has already identified this thread and knows they can not help you with StartAllBack, probably wouldn’t look again so there may be help you could miss out on.
  • There is no penalty on how many threads you create when or if you need help.

I would create a new thread
thanks Sinto - i know some forums are pretty particular and i don't know forum protocols and accepted practices in general - i will start a new thread :)

I don't use StartAllBack. I use ExplorerPatcher so I never had this problem. ExplorerPatcher runs fine alongside other customization tools. I use it alongside Open-Shell, Windhawk (just a small handful of the various many mod choices that are available in it), Winaero Tweaker, Ultimate Windows Tweaker, multiple registry edits that I have amassed from elsewhere, some of my own scripts/programs that I have been writing myself, and a few other things.

Going by the avalanche of descriptions and user feedback online about StartAllBack, it still seems to be lacking too severely in many ways. AFAIK it is maintained by just one Russian guy who wants you to pay money for it while most of the tweak options that it offers appear to have been 'borrowed' from a few free open source Windhawk mods. To me, personally, that is a red flag. Literally.
