As I have been playing around with Windhawk, where you can change a lot of things in the (modern) taskbar of Windows 11, my impression is that there are plenty mods that can be done by programmers in that modern taskbar app, by programming XAML options/settings.

Like reducing taskbar hight and icons on the taskbar, changing the color of the taskbar, changing the (Windows) clock/date appearance etc.

So it would not surprise me if Tihiy would be working hard on that to implement such options for the new taskbar. But that certainly takes its time!

BTW. I decided not to continue with Windhawk, because it is rather complicated to use and takes a lot of space on the system drive (about 650 MByte) just for making the taskbar somewhat to my wishes. But it is a good app to use on a virtual machine just to see waht is prossible with the newer Windows 11 taskbar app.

Does it have to do anything with the subject of this topic: StartAllBack?
When yes, please disable StartAllback modifying File Explorer and look if the problem still exists.

When no, please start a new topic with your question and describe exactly what version of Windows you are using (Pro, Home, exact version: run the command 'winver' and post the result).
If you are using any other app to modify the File explorer, taskbar etc, please specify that as well.

I suppose you mean the start button.
For that you don't need to copy an icon to the StartAllBack path.
You have to copy a triple icon of a special size and filetype, called an 'orb' to any folder on your system.
From the StartAllBack menu, you select that folder and the orb of your choice.

I know about two filetypes that can be used (maybe there are more):
- .png
- .bmp
As a matter of fact the png is the simplest to build yourself in a photoediting program.
The BMP is rather complicated, because it needs to be partionally negative and has several layers.

I have two examples, one with PNG and one with BMP, both I edited to my wishes.
To activate them open the setting page of StartAllback:

001906.jpg

Click the plus sign on the right and select the folder where your orbs are located and select all orbs you want to add:

001908.jpg
In the menu of StartAllback select the orb you want to use as startbutton.
Selecting the first orb:
001909.jpg
Gives this effect on the taskbar:
001910.jpg

Selecting the second orb:
001911.jpg
Gives this effect on the taskbar:
001912.jpg

Where my taskbar has a gray color and has small icons.

There is a way to move the files directly into the StartAllBack program file, but for that you have to know where it is located.
Because StartAllBack is not installed in one of the normal program folders "Program Files" or "Program Files (x86)".
It is in your personal folder:
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\StartAllBack\Orbs
Copy the files you want into that folder and you have the same effect as selecting in the StartAllBack settings.
To my opinion the method via the settings of Startallback is somewhat easier.

I hope I did guess correctly what your problem was. When not, please give a complete description of that problem with screenshots of the point you don't understand.

BTW. I temporarily don't use StartAllBack anymore, because there are reports about MS blocking the app in the future version Windows 11 24H2. What I will do after the developer of StartAllback changes its program (and MS accepts that), depends on what he has established.

For that reason I made this description from my testsystem on VirtualBox, where I still do have StartAllBack.
As I have a system in Dutch language and there is no option in StartAllBack to change the language different from the system language, all texts in the examples are in Dutch, but I think that will not be of any importance.

Edit: two minor typing errors.

Just for sh*ts and giggles, you can overlay the 7orb with a custom image so it will glow when hovered upon...

Other and better format is svg, because it resizes to specific size, rather than depend on premade orbs in fixed-sized grid, which never worked for me.
