Startallback keeping windows 11 startmenu

As it stands if you have your pinned programs in the wrong order you get the jumbled mess like in the pic I posted, and this pic as well, so it's still a hot mess without a 3rd party app to enable windows 10 task bar.
Hmmm..., I can't reproduce that anomaly, with SAB disabled! 🤷‍♂️

So I wonder why I seem to be the only one
Here is a video I did showing it

I had another person say they didn't have it either, so now I wonder what is up

This is where I kinda get confused, are you saying change the target line from C:\Windows\explorer.exe "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" so it says C:\Windows\nircmd.exe exec hide "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"? or is it suposed to still have the explorer.exe at the beginning??
No, you don't need to have explorer.exe at the beginning.

...when I open firefox it pushes file explorer pinned icon to the right, resulting when I open file explorer while firefox is also open, you see the small pinned icon in the middle.
That might be because you did not have the nircmd yet in your Firefox shortcut.
Or may be you have two shortcuts to File explorer on the taskbar, one with file explorer in it and one without.

Please post screebshots of the shortcuts you have now on your taskbar, so that I can see what you have got.
Like this:

Shortcut to D:\ (my documents folder):

002069.jpg

Shortcut to EM-Client app:

002070.jpg002071.jpg

Shortcut to Firefox:

002072.jpg002073.jpg

May be I can thus see what's 'wrong'.

Does Start11 have the windows 10 taskbar?
No, it does not, but it has a lot of tweaks that are comparable to those you could do in the Windows taskbar. For instance you can change the height of the taskbar (small is in it as well), you can change the color of the taskbar and many other options. Not as much as was possible in Windows 10 taskbar, but after 24H2 that will be gone anyway... Start11 does not use the Windows 10 taskbar, it has its own interpretation of the modern interface for Windows 11 taskbar (UWP and WinUI 3). To know what is possible you might watch this video:
and see if that's about what you like.

Ok here's the 3 programs I'm using to test with.
It depends on the placement as I said, because somehow the file explorer just acts different than the other programs. It seems to be the only one that doesn't work like the others do.

As you'll see in the 3 pics aside from the properties pics, you'll see file explorer no matter where I put it acts differently. Thinking back I don't remember anything else giving me issues, they behave and react as they should

Update: just tested and it works as it should, this is just a result of "pin to taskbar"

With toolbar you get a static set of icons to click and open to the far left or right wherever you prefer, resulting in when yu close any of those windows the windows go away, leaving just the static icons in the toolbar.

With pin to taskbar, the window closed but leave the pinned icon on the task bar. Which is what it's suppose to do. I just hat that it leave the icon there, because you end up getting the result like in my pics. Example: from left to right you have..
Web browser, file browser, discord and telegram. You open all those windows and then close file browser leaving the pinned taskbar icon, so the result would then be.....big web browser, small file browser, big discord, big telegram. I'm so accustom to the icons disappearing on the taskbar, that it just looks weird the way it works, but, it is working as it should, just the look is all wonky to me

Firefox shortcut seems ok.

But you should NOT use nircmd for any folder shortcut, as that does not function like that.
This is the right shortcut that should be placed in the target window:
C:\Windows\explorer.exe (for your Home folder, which I don't use)
C:\Windows\explorer.exe C:\ (for drive C:\)
C:\Windows\explorer.exe D:\ (for drive D:\)
C:\Windows\explorer.exe C:\users\username\documents (for documents if that's your documents location)
C:\Windows\explorer.exe C:\anyfolderlink (for any folder on C:\)

It still looks odd becasue the pinned icon is left on the taskbar, and I'm used to it going away once closed ie: quicklaunch, which is what I and most everyone prefers. Pin to taskbar works as it should, but it's still a wonky looking layout because you'll always have the small pinned icon on the taskbar regardless of what you do, so you may have 2 small icons (because they are closed) or 3, or 1, and depnding on the order it will be normal window, small icon, normal window, small icon.
Using a toolbar is static icons and always stay, resulting in when you close said window nothing stays on the taskbar like when pinned

I just am not a fan of how the pinned to taskbar works is all, and I as well as 1000's of others hate it as well, and people are screaming to bring back the toolbars or at least leave 3rd party programs alone that enable the 10 task bar.
This whole "pin to the taskbar" phase is just a stupid stupid idea

pin to taskbar is just wonky for most, it works as it should but is less than desirable how it works for most

But that is something you'll have to complain to Microsoft for. For that you need the MS Feedback Hub App (link to Wikipedia). We can't help that it is like that. I myself found it a bit silly as well, but I have adapted to it and got used to it now.

Alternatively you could put all your shortcuts in a separate folder and pin that folder to the taskbar. Then you have only one icon (that will stay left if you use the "C:\Windows\explorer.exe" trick) and that will open the folder with shortcuts. Let's say the folder that you might call "Quick Launch". The only disadvantage is, that you'll have to doubleclick the shortcuts in the folder to start them. Unless you have set the settings of file explorer to "Single-click to open an item".

And you could wait until StartAllBack manages to revive some sort of Quick Launch toolbar. I honestly doubt if that will have priorities for the developer...

Isn't that a 24H2 like Canary build?
Did you test any StartAllBack version in one of the 24H2 versions that are available for testpurposes, Insider /Canary (I don't use them, so I don't know what's going on in that field)?

I would like to wait until Microsoft is bringing out the version 24H2 to the normal public and only after that test StartAllBack. So test what it does with the taskbar then. Until then I will stay in Start11.

I think Tihiy is still very busy adapting StartAllBack. Microsoft changing the implimentations again and again makes that a lousy job! At the moment the app is functioning, MS is changing something again...

So I ran into a program that is an ok work around for like quick launch, also works with other stuff too, pretty simple to use and seem to work, I just cannot test it in the insider 26244 version

If anyone s interested in testing it, it would be a work around I could accept in using

The program is called Taskbar Groups. Fairly simple and straight forward and useful for other thing I'm sure.

If you do test it in 26244, please post results, as I am curious as to if it even works or not.

I can provide links if needed, just wasn't sure it would get deleted on here due to like not proper to link to rules.

Me neither...,
I tried it on 26214..., the shortcuts don't open the apps! 🤷‍♂️

Left a pm. I think it's because they may be using a modified path sting. I think I saw somewhere that some of the stuff won't work with the shortcut and need the actual path to the exe, which can be a major PITA if it's burried deep somehwere :(
