I have a problem where the registry key Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run is being ignored at startup and so none of the apps contained within it are automatically starting.

I have carried out an sfc /scannow which reported that it had found corruptions and fixed them, but the issue is still there.

Reinstalling the affected apps makes no difference.

I am getting around it with a couple of them by placing shortcuts in the startup folder at C:\users\username\applicationdata\roaming\microsoft\windows\startup

Can anyone help please?

It's been 3-days and disappointed not to have had any response to my problem. Some additional info. I had installed a utility called BootRacer. I was having a problem understanding how it worked and so I uninstalled it less than an hour later. That was when this issue of my startup registry key being ignored. I have emailed BootRacer support, but no reply as yet. I have seen previous similar posts on the Forum and have tried suggested solutions. None of them work. I have tried adding a new user and the same startup issue is there with that account too. I have tried cleaning the registry (with Wise Registry Cleaner and CCLeaner) to remove any remaining traces of BootRacer, but it has made no difference. Would appreciate any advice on anything else I can try. TIA

Reinstall BootRacer and uninstall it using Revo Uninstaller, it will delete all registry entries for the BootRacer.

there is also a second start up folder for the user account.
C:\Users\XxXxX\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

im not sure if moving the short cuts to this folder will give you any improvement but its worth a try.
best of luck, Steve ..

I was trying it having read a recommendation in the ComputerActive magazine. I was just trying to improve my boot up speed a little. But BootRacer just did a whole load of scans, didn't advise what it had done, didn't provide the option for a registry backup first and then just caused havoc with my startup without providing any improvement in boot up speed!

If you are having long boot time, you can use Process Monitor to trace boot startup time and disable any program or process that is affecting the boot time.

In this video, we delve into the common issue of slow boot times in Windows and how to effectively troubleshoot it using Process Monitor.

to reduce some of the boot time please check
start > window tools > system configuration

in this window
> boot tab

change the time out from the default 30 to 3 seconds
click apply and restart the system

this should help a little for the boot time
best of luck, Steve ..
