So i got an msi b450 gaming plus max used for 50 euros and i put it in my pc everything works fine and i really like it. But when i plugged in the headphones, the only thing i heard was static. I started updating drivers, reinstalling, bios update, everything. I could just hear a little faint noise on a youtube video but it was overridden by the static. Today, i hear the static much less, like, if you had bad ears you wouldnt notice it, but no audio still. ChatGPT told me i could buy a usb sound card, idk if it works, i just dont want to lose this mobo cuz its very good. Please help

Yes, you can use a usb sound card. I've never used one so know nothing about the quality of sound you will get from it.

it says "Conclusion: Your system appears to be suitable for handling real-time audio and other tasks without dropouts" but i still hear the static. Also i forgot to say, everytime i move my mouse or click on something it makes a noise, not loud but i can notice it , and when i play a sound it does something weird but not too loud

edit: After 10 minutes it says "Conclusion: Your system seems to be having difficulty handling real-time audio and other tasks. You may experience drop outs, clicks or pops due to buffer underruns. One problem may be related to power management, disable CPU throttling settings in control panel and BIOS setup. Check for BIOS updates."
What does this mean

There's always a outside chance another component could be causing intereference. Start a youtube video. When you hear the sound, unplug your usb devices one at a time to see if it makes a difference. Yes, your mouse and KB too.

Find your MOBO manual and inspect the area around the audio section and also the connections and connectors for damage, dry soldering etc.
Not so easy these days with microscopic components and multi layer PCBs.

Assuming you can disable the MOBO audio. Then other possibilities are to add a PCI-E or USB Audio Card to use instead.
Quality would be a non-issue as normally the integrated MOBO audio is the worst.

However, your post #4 suggests somewhat more damage.

"so usb sound card will work right?"
It should do assuming the MOBO is OK.

It could be bad design of MOBO or quality control by MSI though they will not admit such things.

"I just found a ugreen it has really good reviews"
I have a Ugreen charger and USB-C cables, they seem to be of decent quality.

The MSI article referenced is the sort of analysis you need to do in more detail.

If i get a usb sound card where should i plug it in?
edit: the static has noticeably reduced, you can only hear it when you move the mouse and i also think the problem is with some ground loop idk
im gonna try to put a different psu in and if that doesnt work ill just buy a usb sound card

Something I have not seen asked yet: Are you SURE that you have the correct sound output selected in Windows settings when you plug in the headphones?

The five 8TB drives and three 512GB SSDs are part of a DrivePool using StableBit DrivePool software. The three SSDs are devoted purely to caching for the 8TB drives. All of the important data is stored in triplicate so that I can withstand simultaneous failure of 2 disks.
