Still having update issues with 24H2

1) did you overwrite your original install? you stated you cannot mess with it too much because it's your primary daily driver... but later comments make it sound like you did a fresh install over it...

2) Use RUFUS to burn the 24H2 iso to usb and check the boxes to bypass requirements

3) IF you did a fresh install over it, you can do it again as you wont lose anything that isn't there to lose... so pull out any HDDs/SSDs except for one and during the install, delete all partitions and start COMPLETELY Fresh (if you have anything you cannot afford to lose, back it up on an external media before doing this)

4) Once reinstall is finished and you are at your desktop, disconnect from the internet and do the following:

open command prompt as admin and run:

Code:
FOR %F IN ("%SystemRoot%\servicing\Packages\Microsoft-Windows-GroupPolicy-ClientTools-Package~*.mum") DO ( DISM /Online /NoRestart /Add-Package:"%F" )

Code:
FOR %F IN ("%SystemRoot%\servicing\Packages\Microsoft-Windows-GroupPolicy-ClientExtensions-Package~*.mum") DO ( DISM /Online /NoRestart /Add-Package:"%F" )

5) Restart PC (keep offline)

6) After restart > RUN > gpedit.msc and set the following:

1739406888037.webp
1739407032881.webp

7) Restart
8) Connect to internet
9) Run Windows Updates
10) Check Device Manager > for any missing drivers, go to Dell website and get per your Service Tag number/model

Thanks for trying,, I'm not up to all that right now and don know where to start with that. For now, I have this thing “functional” that's good enough for now since it's my main machine. Like I said, I couldn't start doing much if anything major until I find another decent used W11 laptop as a backup. For now, All I can do is try to at least stop the driver downloads on this thing now. I don't really want to try to reinstall anything again, since I'm not even sure where I installed the 23H2 over. For all I know my old OS my still be on the same SSD, I can not open D at all,. Yet, using Chrystal disk, it still shows all 3 of my SSD's. I can't think straight anymore. I have always kept my systems running and have always found ways to fix or repair them. I'm not up to speed on messing with laptops, however. (I did set the download setting.)

As I said, I'm sure I'll end up having to remove the SSD in slot 1, which I believe is the C drive SSD. I did not set this hardware up myself, it came this way when I bought it. So I don't exactly know how SSDs are placed onto these Dell laptop Motherboards. But looking at YouTube, they seem to all be set in a row.

Thanks again for trying to help. I'm a 78 year retired guy that is losing his mind.
