Hi all. Merry Christmas!
I have a Samsung 4K monitor connected to my RTX 3070 Ti through a Display Port cable, and a second 1080P monitor connected the same way. The problem is that when the computer goes into sleep mode, the backlight on the 4K monitor turns on for about five seconds, every thirty seconds or so. I have done some troubleshooting and I have found that the monitor does not do this if I hook it up to the HDMI port on the GPU. It happily sleeps. I have tried all DP ports on the GPU and the 1080 monitor does not do this.
I don't know why it does it with the DP cable, but I think my solution is to use the HDMI cable and be done with it. The only thing I am wondering about is if the HDMI connection will support 4K properly? I don't use the 4K setting very often but I do like to use it for some graphics programs. My card isn't great for gaming at 4K, but I don't care. I just need the high detail when graphics editing.
So HDMI? Or do I put up with the 4K monitor constantly waking up?
