Stuck on the Dev channel


Yes, it's likely to take a while, it depends on what schedule microsoft decide on, they have two live OSs to manage for the next 4 years at least, with Win 10 and Win 11 both receiving updates (of some kind), windows 10 may stay on the existing twice annually upgrade whereas Win11 has been reduced to one update a year, whether this means the first Win11 will take place Next spring or my guess next fall - I suppose if a major issue appears they good, assuming they have a fix, they could switch to a spring schedule. Time will tell

I am a long term Release preview insider, (if I recall I signed up on the first day it was available). I was told a few years ago that I had been moved to a priority sub set of RP members who are first to get updates for checking

Also I checked my updates earlier today and it was offered it again by WU - I had to download the installer before I could decline this time so those not ready to jump yet, should beware :(

I've not been on the official W11 Insiders, though I can download the W11 ISOs from the microsoft insiders pages. These I run as a Windows to Go install on an external M2 SSD so I can keep my working Win10s Safe whilst running Win 11 live on my own hardware

My point is you're not running a regular non-insider's version of Windows 10. I ask because I'm not aware of any regular Windows 10 (non-insiders) users being offered Windows 11 yet.

That's what I'm trying to get clear about.

Yes that's exactly correct, it's possible that it's not yet been released / offered to the regular Release Preview users yet but we are only a week away from release so who knows

Personally, I can't say for a fact but I'm almost sure we are running the official build. (Not dev) 22000.194 might get a small jump but I haven't seen an RP on that version. On Win 10 there is an RP so I imagine on the 5th we will see a small version jump with updates.

That's just my 2 cents, I'm broke. ;)

Hi good people. I am new here. Somehow I have missed that we need to switch and I got stuck at dev with latest version being 22471.
I am aware of the clean reinstall, but I cannot afford myself to do this at this moment, so I would appreciate if anyone think that we are going to be able to switch in the future?

What would get me if I did System-Recovery-Go back for going to earlier build? Would that solve anything?

Nope, MS don't do 'downgrades' to lower build numbers. Only way.....clean install.

That would have been the previous build on your machine and within 10 days of updating to 471.
That’ll be as far as you can go using that method
