Task Scheduler issue

I have been using a task scheduler to install applications. However, after updating to version 24H2, the installation is no longer working. Even when I tried to add a task manually on the 24H2 system that runs a simple PowerShell script to send an email, it is not functioning. In contrast, everything works without any issues on the 23H2 device.

Are there any updates or changes related to Task Scheduler that could be causing this? Where can I find a solution to this problem? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Are there any updates or changes related to Task Scheduler that could be causing this?

Hi, welcome.

As you haven’t mentioned the build you’re on (Search bar type “Winver” press enter) it’s hard to know.
As far as I know, Task Scheduler would only be updated or affected buy a Windows Update.

If you’re using Windows 11 24H2 and you’re on Build KB5053598, It might pay to ask in that thread if anyone else is experiencing the same. It’s the most recent update for Windows.

I recall another recent thread mentioning Task Scheduler but I am having trouble finding it.

In case it helps, I'm running 24H2 and have set Task Scheduler to startup a program on boot up. It works normally.

Thanks for this. To add on to my issue, I was able to install exe installations without any problems, But with PowerShell installations, i am facing issues. I use Highest Privileges, Eg . "PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy ByPass -file \"" + CurrentTask.ExecutableFilePath + "\"" Are there any changes on execution policy in the 24h2? instead of "ByPass" any other commands?

Executing "powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -f file.ps1" will ignore the task user's current Execution Policy.

The typical scheduled task errors will include:
- User account errors running with highest privileges

- Bad PS command line syntax. Typically you can do error redirection into a log, for more clues.
Code:
powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -f C:\path\to\file.ps1 2>& > C:\path\to\log.txt

This may depend on the version of Powershell, not the version of Windows.

“bypass” works.

I was using Bypass previously , Now it is not working in this new version , Is there a way to set execution policy only to that process ? If I want to use "unrestricted" ?
