Thumbnail Generator for Windows 11

Click on 'Browse' to select the folder to be converted.

Then Click Start.

Note: Seems like it's an irreversible change - emptying the folder does not revert to standard icon.

PS: Restarted after emptying the folder and it now has this icon inside the Test folder

PPS: Removing that icon from the folder now reverts the folder to standard icon (after refreshing Desktop)

Thanks for info, thats what I did still not working. I assume it is a portable app so I extracted GUI.zip into a folder I created call FTGenerator and ran the .exe file (not as an administrator)

Yeah, it's a bit flaky - didn't work on some other folders I tried as well.

I sort of gave up with it, as it seemed to put a picture in the folder not the contents, there are a few of these programs about and maybe I am using a different one, I am on 22000.176 so maybe MS have stopped it.

Tried this tool, it's hit or miss like Superfly said, it couldn't create thumbnails for all folders.

As I said in a previous post, none of these programs work well. Even if they did, they wouldn't be the same as 10 was which I liked as it was a quick way for me to see folder contents. Now I just use a custom folder.

I want to return to default settings. What should I do?
Even if you reinstall Windows, the folder where the thumbnail generator is applied remains the same.
