Windows 11
Hello. My system is installed on an old 120 GB SSD. I also have 2 HDDs and a M2 SSD for files and gaming. I have acquired a new 960 GB SSD and am trying to move my Windows system to it using Macrium. This worked, however my applications are failing to work with files on the other SSD and HDDs. Firefox fails to download files to HDD, LibreOffice fails to open documents in a HDD, Adobe Reader fails to open at all, and the Start Menu has stopped working after a while, which I suspect has to do with failure to index for the Search service. I suspect these problems have something to do with NTFS somehow not recognizing the users in the new system SSD as the former users. However, even as I take ownership over the files I wish to work with, the errors persist. Also, as I had to expand the main partition, it seems the recovery partition no longer works, as I have tried to reset the system and no reset data was found. Thanks in advance for any further troubleshooting suggestions.

Hello @stevenhunter and welcome to ElevenForum. :-)

Get Minitool Partition Wizard (free), install it and post a screenshot of all your drives.

Also I gave you ten reaction points, for filling out your computer specs. (You still need to add your RAM).

Hello Ghot, thank you kindly.

Here are my partitions. I have deleted the partitions from the new SSD and will install a clean system for testing, but I'd rather keep my original system from the 120GB drive.

It looks like the 960GB drive is unallocated.
Just make a fresh backup of ALL of Disk 2.

Then use the Macrium bootable Rescue media to restore that backup to the 960GB drive.

Some of your shortcuts may break... if they do... just recreate them on the 960GB drive.

Use the option in the RED box... to backup ALL of Disk 2

As I said, I had already successfully cloned the full drive using Macrium Reflect. Then, several system errors ocurred.

Anyway, I have repeated the process today and this time it worked properly. I have no idea what went wrong last time. I have updated Reflect but I don't imagine that was the problem. Perhaps the only difference was that I booted without the old SSD, but I'm not sure this is the case. Anyway, all seems well and I can now retire the 120GB SSD.
