I see the host sharing some of its file system:

JackComp is a Windows 10 Pro host (fully updated) with has some of its file system shared on the local network. Windows 10 Pro hosts CailynComp, KoryComp and MichaelComp map a drive letter to that share without problems. This client produces this dialog, when double-clicking on JackComp:

Error code: 0x80070035
The network path was not found.

What can I do to get this to work?

Windows Build/Version
Windows 11 Pro 24H2 (26100.3775)

My Computer

System One

  • OS
    macOS Sequoia
    Computer type
    Laptop
    Manufacturer/Model
    Apple
    CPU
    M1 Max Apple Silicon
    Memory
    32 GB
One more thing, when I trie connecting by putting “\\JACKCOMP” in the path field of a File Explorer window I get this:

In red, it says:

You can’t access this shared folder because your organization’s security policies block unauthenticated guest access. These policies help protect your PC from unsafe or malicious devices on the network.

The server is allowing guest access to the share. How do I get Windows 11 Pro to permit a connection to that share?

Okay. I am getting a step closer. Or am I?

Using gpedit.msc I changed the Lanman Workstation policy “Enable insecure guest logons,”

and rebooted the client computer. Still no success. I then stumbled upon Accessing a third-party NAS with SMB in Windows 11 24H2 may fail, and found that I had to change this:

Computer Configuration → Windows Settings → Security Settings → Security Options → Microsoft network client: Digitally sign communications (always) → Disabled.

Now it works!
