Hi folks
usually NNT servers can adjust / sync the time automatically for your region. UTC also is not identical to GMT - it's in use by the military planet wide and has no daylight saving or whatever. I think Windows has an option to automatically set the time for your region from the internet.
On a different note -- slightly OT but relevant to the UK's recent endless trumpeting about "Green and Climate Change" -- I'd have thought that a lot of energy / carbon emission etc would be saved if they kept BST all year round --in WWII I believe they even had "double summer time" for most of the duration of the war - so the savings obviously not trivial.
In places where daylight doesn't vary much over the year like I suppose Arizona then it won't make much difference.
@AddRAM -- it's done so the Cows at milking time can continue to watch their favourite TV programs !!.
Scotland and England could have different time zones -- doesn't cause a problem for example with Portugal and Spain being in different time zones so a common Land border is not an obstacle. Savings in London and Manchester would be quite large whereas in Scotland it wouldn't make much difference I agree.
Cheers
jimbo

The whole world should be on Starfleet time.
No wonder we don't have faster than light travel. This time change messes up the physicists, twice a year.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot... changing the clocks twice a year is..., stooooopid. ^^
Everyone was worried about Y2K. These time changes, twice a year, mess up more computers than Y2K ever did. LOL

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 13 years?
I have no issues with the change at all ... all of my electronics these days change time themselves when needed. I have a couple of older or non smart items that
I'll manually change when i feel like it some items I'll not use between changes so i ignore them.
As for loosing sleep, i don't worry i wake and sleep if and when i feel i need it. I do set alarms for appointments but usually find i am awake long before the alarm.

@ThrashZone I believe we have been doing since WW2 to gain and hours daylight for working on the land. They have been talking about abolishing it for years but nothing has changed. I guess you are in the US and have many different time zones

The entire world uses it where they need to, Arizona doesn`t use DST at all, maybe a small chunk of it in the upper left corner. You`d have to research that.
Yes, I lived in Arizona for over 40 years and never had to change my clocks. It never bothered anyone in Arizona businesses. It was everyone else that had to adjust to the fact that we did not adjust. I think it's a waste of effort.
Oh, it is a small chuck in the upper "right" corner of Arizona, the Indian reservation. The Indians say that "it's like cutting off the top of a blanket and then sewing it back on the bottom". It doesn't really change anything.

I remember this,
'Older readers may remember the three-year experiment launched in 1968, when British Standard Time (GMT+1) was employed all year round.
The clocks were put forward as usual in March 1968 and not put back until October 1971.'
A new report argues for a change to Scotland's daylight hours but there's little sign of support north of the border.
