Unable to change height of taskbar

Upgraded to Windows Insider Win11, but went back to Win10 because I was unable to change the height of the taskbar. I decided to wait a few weeks, but next day got a prompt to install the next feature update, which installed Win11 again. Still unable to change the height of taskbar.

Will I be unable to get Win10 Insider updates from now on? I don't want the Win11 updates until they fix the taskbar issue.

Any help or insights?

Thanks in advance.

Task bar height changes with icon size.

Change Size of Taskbar Icons in Windows 11
Thanks for your reply. However, I think you have mistaken my question. I don't want to change the icon size, I want to change how many rows of task icons displays in the taskbar.

In Win10, the taskbar height can be changed by moving the mouse pointer to the top edge of the taskbar, where the pointer will become a two-headed arrow. You can then drag the top edge of the taskbar up or down, thus changing the number of rows of icons the taskbar will display. I like to have it be 3 rows high so the tasks are not so small. Please see the screenshot below.

I also set the taskbar to auto-hide, so it doesn't use any of the screen to display unless I move the mouse pointer to the bottom of the screen.

As of right now, you can't unlock the taskbar.

Anyone know if there is a registry hack to unlock the Win11 taskbar so the height can be expanded?

No, there isn't. All hacks thus found / applied from previous Windows versions, if they work at all, only work until reboot.

It's the first build - expect things to change as they develop the OS more.

Yeah, unfortunately. That's the price of trying out what essentially is a pre-βeta build of the OS - gotta take the good (usually in low quantities) with the bad (usually high quantities).

It tends to get better - but unless they have 10X the usually number of programmers that worked on Windows builds, I find it hard to believe that they can have a polished working Win 11 in 6 months.

And remember - 6 months from today is 3 Jan 2022.....I'm giving them even more time than they claim for the release themselves.....
