Some update for Windows 10 and the equivalent update for Windows 11 changed something to the authorization method (protocol) making connecting to a network printer or a shared printer fail. There are certain Registry keys you have to change to return to the old method that always works.

Unless you change the appropriate keys in Registry, nothing else works. Been there done that.
