I have a question, when one clicks on Browse File List, how does one actually download the files listed? I tried clicking on the DesktopDeployment.cab and nothing happens.

You just click the files to download them. Your browser might want additional confirmation that you really want to download it, since it's a .cab. Firefox asks for this, I know.

My browser (Firefox) tends to mark UUP dump's download files as potentially dangerous, and you have to unblock them one at a time from the brower's Download queue.

@pseymour - I did get prompted for UUP Dump wants to download multiple files automatically nd I allowed everything but clicking does nothing when I click on the file, all that happens is the reload this page icon in the browser blinks for 0.25 second. Even when I right click to open link in a new tab, it shows a new tab for 0.25 second and then it kills the new tab.

@Torus - I am not trying to build the ISO, I need the files to build the MSU file which is required to update the Windows Recovery Environment on the system so that I will have a working WinRE that is August 13, 2024 or later needed by KB5042562: Guidance for blocking rollback of Virtualization-based Security (VBS) related security updates - Microsoft Support

@garlin - my download queue does not have anything even after clicking on it.

Here is a video capture of what I am talking about with cursor animation and click animation, pay attention to what happens when I click and when I try to open in new tab.

And when I try this in incognito mode by clicking on the file:

and when I click on Continue to site, it does show the file download dialog but the filename shows as 456b6b12-149e-4e7e-89b9-1f597534ef0b not 456b6b12-149e-4e7e-89b9-1f597534ef0b.cab

This is the download queue as of now, the first file is actually the Realtek audio drivers from Microsoft Update Catalog.

When I click the URL link or open it in a new tab, my browser gives me the "Save to file..." dialog. Do you have a 3rd-party Anti-virus or Firewall product on your PC?

@garlin - No, the problem is Safe Browsing unless Chrome is on No Protection instead of Standard or Enhanced protection, it won't go anywhere. If I turn it to No Protection, it does the same thing as incognito mode. When you get the Save to file dialog, does it have the name with the .cab or without the .cab at the end for the filename? Even in Firefox, it complains.... and this is plain Firefox beta, I didn't add anything. I am only using the built in Windows Defender product.

Here's a video of what happens in Firefox Beta, the file downloaded without the .cab extension and you can see it's complaining about the http security:

That's normal behavior, UUP dump is relaying the raw filename as presented by the MS back-end server.

If you pay attention to the large table underneath the direct download links, UUP dump provides a script to rename everything.
Code:
rename "456b6b12-149e-4e7e-89b9-1f597534ef0b" "DesktopDeployment.cab"
rename "48859926-f6fb-43fd-9a23-23fdd04b2b3b" "SSU-22621.4082-x64.cab"
rename "0f00f25e-58d5-4f6a-ae03-9fd0c3f0aa3d" "Windows11.0-KB5041881-x64.cab"

Thanks @garlin as always learn something new. I was actually trying to follow posts #43 and #45 in this thread and unless I missed it, the instructions said to download but not the renaming part. I didn't actually look at the bottom of the page because all I needed were 5 files and I was going to move down the page once I get each file done and ofcourse never went past the first file. What I didn't know is Chrome wouldn't even let me download if the Safe Browsing was anything other than No Protection. So what I will do is probably highlight the name first, ctrl-c it and then download and when the file download comes up, the save file as, just ctrl-v it so that takes care of the file renaming problem without too much effort.

Regardless, thanks for taking the time to help!

On the 3rd page of every build, they provide an Updates-only download package. Basically it's the same script that prepares the ISO but only does the Update files.

Interesting and good to know with many thanks, I only periodically download the .iso since I am on Beta Insiders which had a new build not soon after I posted the original post as now I need 22635.4225 so I am even more up to date but will probably attempt it after I update the system to 22635.4225 before doing the WinRE partition to be on the safe side as I don't know if the OS would need to be the same or newer than the WinRE or not. Always learning something new.
