VIDEO Players Breaking Up Video + Audio

Nvidia Quadro P620

Any video players I use, to run at 1080p or 720p (I haven't tried 480p) pixelates, breaks up/cut out and the video frequently freezes and the audio continues. Eventually, they resync and continue to play for 10 minutes or so, before the errors reappear. While VLC is playing a video: CPU 10%; MEM 2%

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!

If you are playing video from the Internet, it is possible that the video stream is bad.

Are you using a Bluetooth mouse? Sometimes it can interfere with vid playback. Try re-installing the Bluetooth driver and reboot.

No. I'm not using any mouse at the moment, just the pad on the laptop. I'm actually having all kinds of mouse issues. The mouse won't move, and then it jumps multiple inches at a time. I posted the issue on this site and none of the solutions has helped. I'm thinking it's a Motherboard problem...

VLC has the same problems. I was able to perform the first step "Output = Direct3D11"

Under Input/CODECS There is no reference to hardware accelerated decoding. With Input/codecs selected the HEADINGS on the right side of the menu are: Input/codecs; Track Settings; Playback Control; Default Devices; Network Settings; Socks Proxy; Metadata; Advanced. Menu settings is "ALL". What section should this be listed under?

The hardware options only exist in simple menu - nowhere to be found in "ALL".

Actually, I hate VLC. No matter what I do with it, it only opens in fullscreen/always on top mode. It never responds to the "Q" command. If I right-clk on the screen I eventually get some odd-looking window. Closing that window closes VLC. Un-ticking the always on top box and saving it - it still is always on top, etc.

For the purity of the experiment, you should use test cases.
This site has videos in all popular formats.

I don't know how to test VLC operation.
You can temporarily test the computer by installing MPV player, you can display test information on the screen and/or in the log on disk.

Contrary to your statement above, I have *never* selected fullscreen or always on top. When I make a change in Preferences, I always save it. When I untick full screen and always on top, shutdown VLC and then restart it, the full screen and always on top options are rechecked. There is one other thing that refuses to stay unchecked, but I can't remember what it is.

Hi, did you install the latest firmware for that NVIDIA P620:

Also latest driver:

If that's already done. Go to: C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC

Rename vlc to videolan - to be able to use the Nvidia GPU or it's stuck to iGPU as vlc.

Next, use Windows Search and look for Nvidia Control Panel

Set 3D Settings > Adjust Image Settings to Use the Advanced 3D Settings

Click on Manage 3D Settings > Add > Browse and go to C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC then select videolan and set it like so:

2024-12-24_022758.webp

Try it now - see if it can use NVIDIA GPU for hardware acceleration.

According to the link you supplied, these are "incompatible" with my Dell Precision 3541. I do appreciate the effort to supply the links. According to Advanced Driver Updater, my drivers are up to date.

If that's already done. Go to: C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC

Rename vlc to videolan - to be able to use the Nvidia GPU or it's stuck to iGPU as vlc.
Are you referring to the VLC.exe file? IF so, then I should change it to: videoLAN.exe?
