@Winuser 's suggestion is a good one!
I would stay away from the Phone Link app, though, it's a convoluted p-i-t-a!!!

ok i found it mine just shows the words not like you showed. so i got the photos up and right clicked and selected extra large icons and then selected descending and disconcerted the phone and reconnected a few times and it came back now i will take a few photos and see if it returns nope it reverted back to small icons and ascending order. maybe someone has a way in the back win pages to fix this. it is annoying to have to select sort order and icon size every stinking time i have new photos to view, i was hoping win11 would have fixed this issue. thanks

As a photographer and photo editor, Window has had that ability forever and a day. Maybe I misunderstand the question?

BTW, I use the Phone Link with zero issues. In fact, I often shoot an image from my phone and then drag and drop on the desktop for editing in Photoshop. No issues here, and I'm not doing anything "special". I think issues may be with certain older phones.

I tried it when it was first released and said No Way! I haven't used it since.

I have kind of a similar problem with File Explorer and my video files. I want them to show in Detail View. I can not get File Explorer to keep my setting. It will work for awhile then all of a sudden it switches back to Large Icons. I have tried every suggestion I have read and nothing works. I got frustrated and switched to the free version of OneCommander as my main file manager.

I recently downloaded MyPhoneExplorer which is very good. I am not sure if it has what you are looking for though. I only used it a couple of minutes.

I didn't have issues, per se, either, I just found it to be a complicated setup for such little use for me.
Most I would use is Messages, of which I use Google Messages PWA.

I found it to be annoying. I'm sure it has improved but I can live without it.

i tried OneCommander and that just takes me to explorer and i ge the same thing so i will just keep doing it as i have been thanks

It has improved immensely, I just refuse to sign into anything MS on my Android phone!

Do you have your phone paired with your PC?
And, is your phone set for File Transfers exclusively?

Yeah, but the problem is you're "assuming" others are "you", which is wholly not the case for me, or others that actually use the app a lot (me). From that standpoint I don't find it to be a PITA at all cause I use it for lots of things, and especially when I need a quick photo to post.

I think he means that opens File Explorer so the issue persist since File Explorer doesn't show thumbnails of phone folders.

It's a separate file manager program and has nothing to do with File Explorer. If the folders\files are on his computer he can set the default view. Not sure about what's available if the folders\files are still on the phone. With File Explorer I found myself constantly changing the view setting for my video files from large icon to detail view. With OneComander I only had to set it once.

i tried that app and i connected it to the phone. this thread is only for connecting my phone to my pc and having file explorer open the phone photos in descending and extra large order and how to go into regedit and make it do that if regedit can.

we are getting way off my original thread. so let's start again.

i connect my phone to my pc. my pc then shows me the phone is connected my phone is called a51 i see that when i click on the file explorer folder along the bottom task bar.

now when i connect my phone and a51 shows up i click on a51 and then i get 2 choices internal or sd card in the right side.
i click on sd card as that is where i told my phone to store the photos.
i then get 2 more choices dcim or pictures. i click on dcim
i then get 1 choice camera i click on camera and the area populates showing all the photos on my sd card.

now what i want is for them to open in descending order and in extra large icons. all the time if i do not take any new photos they do open in this order, but if i take new photos they revert back to oldest photos taken and small icons.

there must be a way to make file explorer remember my selections and keep them that way. every time i connect my phone is to have file esplorer open the camera photos in newest on top and extra large icons. if this is in the phone then maybe someone has figured out how to make the phone show in that order.
