Please note that 2 drives although same model, are always different. Different age, different batch, different usage (write cycles) etc...

Also CPU architecture, latencies and chipsets affect speeds a bit..

So what happens when more powerful pcs come out - do they have to re-baseline tool, or will everybody just see 10 in future, making the tool even less meaningful than it is now?

WEI tool will probably update when Windows desktop requires real time ray tracing, GPU direct storage and a 64core CPU as minimum system requirements to even install. ...so we might have to wait a bit longer.

Right now it is perfect for assessing Windows expected performance. Which anything beyond 5 points is pretty good. 10 is overkill for most of us, unless we do professional game, video, animation and music production.
